He could’ve been from Mogadishu or he could’ve grown up on LSU’s campus.

If he would’ve won he’d have been loved, but since he didn’t, he was not liked.

I don’t hate him. He did nothing to me other than put out the dumpster fire that he inherited and then fail to turn that dumpster into a Taj Mahal.

With more time, maybe he accomplishes the latter. We’ll never know, because he lost most of the fan base and, more importantly, he lost the decision makers.

I appreciate his time and efforts…now it’s next man up.

I'm sure a few people in Boston can't stand the guy either, but that's a moot point.

Getting into the playoffs would have gotten him admiration from the fans and job security. Had he won a national championship here, he'd have been loved. Had he won two, we'd have built a statue for him.

He was 34-14 while head coach here. Wasn’t good enough but also wasn’t terrible. Probably would have lasted to the end of this season or maybe next if he wasn’t such an arrogant prick.
Being an unlikeable arrogant a-hole is what got him canned when he did.

None matters, win while being dominate and everything else takes care of itself.

Everyone hates the guy. ND fans, LSU fan, and I’m sure Cincinnati fans. He’s inauthentic, unlikable and doesn’t win enough to overcome the former two qualities

I have a good friend who is a die-hard Notre Dame fan. She didn't go to school there...she has just loved their football team for ages.

When we hired Kelly, she warned me about him. She hated him when he was at Notre Dame and said he was very unlikeable and condescending. She said that we would grow tired of him.

Well I think we all know how women are when they are right about something....the "I told ya so's" have been non-stop the last 3 days

The narrative of him NOT being accepted by the fans needs to stop. HE didn’t want to be a part of the LSU culture. He never bought into the university. Take time to listen to his press conferences. He talked at people and never took ownership of his short comings. The guy was never invested.

And that didn’t happen. It’s just more fun to talk about that than him being caught between words.

If he had won, none of that matters. What has he left behind? A program that amounts to nothing. The roster has precious little talent based on its performance the last couple of years. What was that man doing because it was not building the program. Anyone disagree with that?

Kelly's problem was always dropping a game or two that he should've never lost and never putting out a balanced team. Every year there was a glaring deficiency.

FSU 22'
Ole Miss 23'
USC and Florida 24'

Flip those games to wins and he has 3-straight 10-win seasons and a much different feeling around his tenure.

Zero. It was more the losses to lesser teams and blowout at night in tiger stadium to the most insufferable team in the nation.

He didn't "fit" because he didn't buy in to the blue collar mentality and believed his way was the only way to be successful. he didn't care about what worked or what you needed to do in Louisiana. He was a successful Coach and wasn't going to adapt.

That has nothing to do with where hes from. That has more to do with him being set in his ways due to his previous success at other stops during his Coaching tenure. Also in part due to him not being nearly as motivated as some might had hoped. That drive and fire wasn't there. That could be $ or that could just be him being content with where he was at but that is why he didn't "fit." Not where he was raised, born, etc.

Nick Saban is from West Virginia. Les Miles is from Ohio.

Doesn't matter.

He stepped in it from the outset by faking his southern drawl. People like authenticity, and he doesn't have it.

Nick Saban, West Virginia

Three highly successful coaches from the Big 3 sports. They were successful, and embraced, because they won. No one cares where you're from. Just give it your all and produce results and you will be embraced.

Kelly's culture didn't fit. Not because he is from Boston, but because he did not meet the expectations that come along with $10M/year and a $21M NIL budget.
