22 down votes from the folks who don't know what "grammar" is and can't remember how to find out.

Kelly DID beat Clemson when the backup played, although he passed for 460+ yards. A record against ND. Kelly got blown out when TLawrence returned a couple weeks later.

Right, bc losing the most important position on the field has nothing to with it. He only started 2 years, had over 7,000 yards, completed 69% of passes and threw for 54 TD’s with a record of 24-3. LMAO

13 wins in a season, ND record. 2 CFP WINS, ND record

In the first year of the 12 team playoff. Not a coincidence. This is like saying Freeman is better than any Notre Dame coach in history because he has more playoff wins.

Marcus Freeman has become this board’s new Tom Herman.

That Clemson team would destroy this year’s Notre Dame team, too.

Those are 2 teams that ND throttled this year.

We have different definitions of "throttle".

Saying Notre Dame beat 2 teams to which LSU lost is fine. No need for the tall tales and making the wins seem much bigger than they were.

Notre Dame went up 20-13 vs A&M with under 2 minutes left in the game.

Vs USC, it was 35-28 with under 4 minutes to go in the 4th and then the USC QB threw back to back 100 yard pick 6s.

He’s like 7-21 career vs top 10 opponents and has the lowest win% by far vs ranked opponents at LSU since Dinardo.

Fine. They won both games by double digits on the road, and led both games throughout, and at times comfortably.

Bottom line is we should quit making excuses and doing mental backflips to justify Kelly’s failures. He’s been a flop. And a spoiler alert - he won’t win a national title.

We gave a $100 million contract to a coach who has ZERO major bowl wins and playoffs wins. If Kelly was some wunderkind coach, he wouldn’t have been stuck coaching glorified HS football for over 25 years at Assumption and Grand Valley whatever. Clearly not many ADs were impressed or he would have a much more rapid ascent.

$100,000,000 tool - that’s no tool at all. Smart enough to get a dagger past you guards old man. LOL

LSU is either a big time program or it isn't. Kelly was paid the going rate.

Heading into next season, he will be the 9th highest paid coach.

10. Mark Stoops - $9 million
9. Brian Kelly - $9.975 million
8. Bill Belichick - $10 million
7. Mike Norvell - $10 million
6. Kalen Deboer - $10 million
5. Ryan Day - $10.02 million
4. Lincoln Riley - $10.04 million
3. Steve Sarkisian - $10.6 million
2. Dabo Swinney - $11.1 million
1. Kirby Smart - $13.2 million

The question should be how many National Championships has Kelly won?

Well, he’s beaten a Les Miles LSU team once, and shrimp boat capt. LSU team once. So there’s 2 that I know of.

While I understand the point you are trying to make. It sure does help to play Indiana and then UGA with a first time starting backup QB in his first start.

and the weakest schedule in ND history with a loss to a freaking FCS school.
