Injuries are part of the game. ND played without their best DL and All-American CB, not to mention lost THREE OL starters at the beginning of the season. "Next Man In"

The Georgia QB did fine in the 2nd half vs Texas, and I'm told had never lost a game as a starter at any level. And he actually played quite well. Not really his fault those 4 sacks and 2 fumbles. ND defense was ELITE, and I don't recall that ever being the case under Kelly.

You still have to play and win the games. That doesn’t change. When you resort to making a lot of excuses, that's when you really know your team sucks.

Yes but who you play matters.

Kelly has played 3 postseason bowls

He lost to 2012 Alabama in the Natty
2018 Undefeated Clemson in the playoffs
2020 Undefeated Alabama in the playoffs

Being like “and Freemannhas 2 wins to Kelly 0”

When he played Indiana and UGA without a QB.

Yesterday someone started a thread using two specific games as examples of big wins that BK had at Notre Dame.

The first was the game in 2019 against Georgia. Notre Dame actually lost that game.

The second was a game in 2020 against Clemson, a game in which Trevor Lawrence did not play. Notre Dame and Clemson ended up playing again later that year when Trevor Lawrence was able to play and Clemson won by 24 points.

Before I see another thread started about Brian Kelly and ND

Well one of the biggest changes - what a lot of ND fans either fail to realize or don’t want to admit - is that Jack Swarbrick is no longer there. BK begged him for years to cough up more money for the program and he refused. Publicly said many times “we’re an academic school with a football program, not a football school with academic program.” He’s gone now. New AD is spending money. Freeman is a great coach, so is Mike Denbrock (both hired by BK). BK is a program builder. He’s done it repeatedly throughout his career. ND fans remember the horrific Charlie Weis years. BK brought that program back to perennial respectability. He’s doing that with LSU too and he will win a NC. Yall just need to be patient

Wait so starting QBs matter?

That’s a double fricking standard.

But in 2012 he beat Stanford who finished the season 12-2 won the Pac 12 and was a top 10 team.
He beat OU who was #8 at the time and finished the season #15

If we’re talking about games besides national championships that matter, he has won “big games.”

Love it when the OP starts his post by clearing defining what he already knows is the answer to his question to try to prove his point.

Dude, you are such a drama queen douche bag..

Since your playing with words..

WHO IS THE MOST ACTIVE WINNING COACH IN NCAA???

I was just responding to a post in which you referenced specific games how Georgia didn't have their starting QB. I pointed to another post that was referencing specific games.

I never said he was totally incapable of winning a "big game". If you want to equate beating the Oklahoma in the regular season of that year to beating Georgia in this playoff game that's fine. I wouldn't necessarily consider them equal but that's just me.

No I want to equate beating Clemson in the regular season to beating UGA.

The regular season used to
matter.

Based on what? Beating Indiana and a highly overrated Georgia team without their starting QB?

I think it is disingenuous to be like “aha Freeman has won CFP games!!!!”

And those games got him exactly as far as Kelly had gotten.

Notre Dame wasn’t an SEC team in 2012 but they played 3 teams that finished ranked that year. If they lose to Stanford they both finish 11-1 and Stanford has a head to head. Thats a big game in the regular season

I hate the idea of comparing them overall. You've got one guy that is in his 3rd year as a head coach and a guy that is in his 21st year as a head coach. The game has drastically changed over the last decade.

How dumb is this post? Brian Kelly lost to A&M and USC. Those are 2 teams that ND throttled this year. So no, LSU would not have made the playoffs with ND’s schedule.

LSU would absolutely have beaten A&M if they leave Weigman in the entire game, as they did vs Notre Dame.

They only become "big games" if Kelly loses.

Ole Miss this year would have received that tag, if they'd have lost.

Georgia played a back up qb

UGA has been in the top 3 in recruiting for what 6 years now? They best have a QB that can play, or rather, 10 other guys that are better than the 11 guys on ND defense.

I don't know what the exact strength and conditioning philosophy at ND is, but it showed last night. They are put together and tough.

“Throttled” hahahahahahaha clearly you didn’t watch either game. 23-13 and 49-35 isn’t “throttling” anyone. Hell that vaunted ND defense gave up nearly 600 yards to USC. And that was their BACKUP QB hahahaha yeah sit down. ND didnt throttle anyone

Throttled aTm. You drunk? And if in your infinite wisdom you believe LSU has an easier road to the playoffs than ND your wisdom betrays you.
