So our head coach didn’t say the roof was leaking and we didn’t have hot water?
First , the PMAC is not an athletic department facility, its operated by the university. Where do you star gazers think the funding for a new facility would come from. The roof is maintenance issue.

Bro, it’s time. The fact that we have ZERO premium seating for this basketball program is absurd.
There ae 8 SEC championship banners and 3 Final Four banners hanging from the ceiling in the past 35 years. What other programs besides Kentucky and Florida ( fewer SEC titles) can make that boast in the league. Its only entitled people like you who bitch constantly about the PMAC. It aint gonna happen, there is no money in this state for it and it is senseless. Just enjoy the game and stop the constant whining.

New basketball arena

This would be the absolute dumbest and stupidest thing. What a great home atmosphere, going from 14,000 fans to 5,000. Brilliant.
The Centroplex seats 9,000. Kind of like Auburn…
Still dumb to give up 5,000 seats, but a ridiculous idea for many other reasons.

You do know that a firm has already been hired and is conducting a study on the PMAC for a full renovation. Wade has said the results of said study should be announced soon and that was at the beginning of the season.
Something is going to happen with the PMAC soon it will hinge on the results of this study. I am thinking a complete gut and building a new arena around the PMACs bones.
For you to say nothing is going to happen is pure ignorance.

Spoken like a true liberal. If you thought parking at LSU was bad, what the hell do you think it would be like downtown. And crime. It would only go up.

If it ain't broke, don't fit it.

If you don't mind higher TAF/Ticket prices. Go for it.

Didn't say that. Maintenance on a moderated basis is fine. There is 8 months in a year where such might be done.
Any plan which displaces the games to the Centroplex would be terrible and would stymie the progress of the program.

It’s not just the men’s team, it’s the men’s team, the women’s team, the gymnastics team, and the volleyball team.
Can ALL of that be relocated to the river center? Theoretically yes but I’m willing to bet it’s more complicated than you think it is.
Better idea is to move the track team somewhere and put a new arena on the corner of Nicholson and south stadium

We will be playing at least one season out of the PMAC. I see no way the renovation would be done in time.
I hate the idea of playing downtown for a year but it may be a necessary evil to have the facilities that can compete nationally. Imagine being a recruit walking into the PMAC with no hot water, the practice facilities with leaking roof with no weight room or coaches offices. The PMACs current layout and attached facilities all light years behind the rest of the SEC.
Of course this is all based on renovations. A new arena in the right location could be built and we remain in the PMAC to completion.

I just have a hard time imagining them relocating that many sports off campus. Could happen obviously but just really hard to picture

I agree that is a logistical nightmare. A possible one but none the less a nightmare.

I see your point. Maybe then Will Wade could recruit Top 10 classes. Might even win more games than all those teams with those fancy arenas that LSU is behind.
Oh, wait!

Y’all are so closed minded about what LSU should do to maximize the current area where the PMac is
Idk why you’re being downvoted. The PMAC is in a prime location already. They need to get rid of N Stadium drive and make the area between the arena and the TS an open-air space for monuments, tailgating, and the like

Ummmm, this is directly from lsusports.net.

On July 1, 2004, the management of the Pete Maravich Center came under the direction of the LSU Athletics Department. One of the primary functions was to improve the quality of the building both in the arena and on the upper concourse.

1) Which is even more absurd that LSU doesn’t have suites or any type of club level seating. That’s just embarrassing.
2) LSU is literally getting a quote to gut the thing or to see if it has to be torn down. The AD isn’t sitting on their hands.
3) You don’t keep Wade and Mulkey without improving/replacing the arena. Plain and simple.

Back several years ago when the PMAC was leaking TAF was going to get right on it and fix it. That didn’t happen because the state wouldn’t release control of the building or something. So we waited on the state to fix it which they did like 18 months later at 5 times the cost.

Start building a new arena on the River and play in the PMAC until it is completed. Anew track facility should be built there as well. Convert the old spaces into a park type area.

PMAC is less than 13k now that they dedicated an upper section to media, and the River Center is 8,900 permanent seats and another couple hundred when you add floor seating around a basketball court.
9,000 seat difference is just waaaaaaay off. It's less than half of that.

either completely new arena is necessary or a complete remodel to the bones, like Georgia tech did.
fan experience most be improved. seats and especially students need to be closer to the court.
concourses and restroom need a complete re-engineering.
more premium seating, especially suites and club level.
And the teams need reworked areas with film rooms, weight rooms, and coaches offices.
the fact we built a facility 10 years ago without filmroom and coaches offices is beyond dumb.

how about refurbishing the Cow Palace as a temporary facility while rebuilding the Maravich...
I just hope they look around at other facilites within the SEC and incorporate features such as a parking garage and a lobby with concessions that are open year round and accessible to students during the day...
