You first have to realize that these reports do 2 things
1 they count funny money like scholarships as direct deficits when in fact hardly any of that money is actually spent
2- and this is most important- THE HAVE TO SHOW A MINIMAL PROFIT OR LOSS! It’s not a for profit business. When they have a surplus they dump it on infrastructure etc

LSU has some of the wealthiest private donors in the country. You know the public names behind LSU when it comes to boosters but there's other extremely wealthy ones you do not know about. LSU has more than 1 billionaire name behind them. That's all you need to know. Just saying.
3 wealthiest private donors in SEC are Texas, TAMU and LSU. Lots of oil money in the Texas schools.

I'm not an accountant but possibly has to do with the way Kelly and the staff's severance was expensed and the onboarding of new staff, relocation expenses, etc. Plus, the major schools pay out $20 million + to athletes annually from the House settlement.
Everyone's expenses are up and they're still paying from the same pot of media revenue, etc.

TAF ran out of club seats to sell. The money is there. On the school side football carries all the athletic other programs. Drive around LSU. It wants for nothing.

Can’t really sustain itself with this ongoing deficit, Expect everything to go up from tickets to parking to beer and hot dogs. Paying astronomical amounts to coaches and players is way out of control,

I’m not looking at it but it would either be TAF monies transferred or tradition fund. The TAF proceeds transferred to offset a deficit wouldn’t show up until the following fiscal year if I recall.
Point is the cash is there. But the current operating budget is not sustainable to just rely on TAF annually to contribute their normal amount + your overspend.

The TAF is worth close to a billion in property and other assets.

Right. I guess I’m just going to have to wait until the actual report comes out, and compare the contributions to previous years and to see if the $20+ million deficit includes that contributions line item. But TAF money is included in the TAF financial reports at some point.
Obviously overages are expected as we are currently paying 2 head coaches (extra $10 million), had to pay buyouts for assistants last year, and added and extra $21.5 million in rev share that we previously didn’t have to account for. Plus any other miscellaneous additional costs that likely came with the whole coaching turnover, and the basketball staff being turned over as well.

Use some common sense. Buying Brian Kelly off does not mean they paid it all at once. Giving Lane his contract, does not mean you pay it all at once. You pay CBK monhtly, just like Lane. So, think about your comment that LSU had to pay $200,000,000 to buy off Kelly and his staff and then hire Lane and his staff.
