How is our athletic department doing financially?

Read somewhere on social media we had $26 million deficit this year and a $44 million deficit last year. We spent roughly $200 million firing Kelly, hiring Kiffin, and putting this roster together.
I have been surprised to see all the money LSU is shelling out. I didn’t know we were this rich.
Is this not a cause for concern? I don’t see how we can look to spend a similar amount on our roster the next year and year after, etc

The buyouts for the coaches were NOT paid by the athletic department. Private donors paid that off.
Due to the additional scholarships under new scholarship limits we have 20 more in football, 23 in baseball, 2 more in basketball, etc. so that will create a deficit this year. Although let me also state that all the original 85 scholarships for football were fully endowed (people gave money which was invested to pay for each scholarship on an annual basis).
All of the sports except football and mens basketball lose money. All of them.
TAF is s separate entity not under the athletic department budget.
The LSU athletic department is in the top ten nationally in revenue, i believe 7th last year.
All of that (except TAF) is public record.
I hope this clarifies some of this for you.

Honestly not just on the rant. The vast majority of CFB fans think the school is paying this.
If the school were paying it the coaches wouldn’t have guaranteed full buyouts in their contracts.

We’re setup a little different than most because TAF revenue and profit is not included in the AD budget. So TAF will typically offset any deficit. Now they can’t do $40m every year but they do have the resources to assist.

All I know is that this "piper Hutchinson" character seems to be constantly trying to make a name for they/them selves by trying to play gotcha games with LSU...I really don't care for they/them
