Have seen his habitat? If I’m a tiger and that’s my digs, I ain’t going nowhere.

And yet another lame post about a Tiger being pulled around in a cage. I've been going to games since I was four years old (1958), and not once was I ever really interested in seeing Mike in the stadium. Go see him in his habitat. Then go to the football game. It's that simple.

For decades Mike used to ride around the field in a caged trailer.

For centuries we used to kidnap people and make them work for us for free for their entire lives.

Some people take longer than others to become more sophisticatedly civilized.

If there was a message board in the 1800s people would be bitching about why we couldn't have slaves anymore.

Today you're bitching about why it's not ok to take a wild animal and freak it the frick out by putting it in a cage in front of 100k drunk uncivilized screaming hairless monkeys.

If you can't see the parallels, I'm sorry, you're just too stupid and you probably never will.

Your downvote count is far different from what it wouldve been 10 years ago. LSU fans have gone the way of PETA. Why even have a mascot if he can't be a mascot? Time to just give the tiger up. We're a lost cause

Does Memphis still bring their tiger on the field? I went to a Memphis game back in 2012 and was surprised that they brought out a live tiger in a cage much smaller than Mike's. While walking back to my truck after the game, a truck pulling the cage drove right on the side of us. I was within 3 feet of the beast with only a couple iron bars and some plexiglass standing between me and certain death.

No. The last TOM passed away a few years ago. I believe he was actually a cousin of Mike VI. He lived in a habitat in West TN run by his handler and they agreed there will no longer be a tiger brought to the games after the last TOM.

No matter what many of you want to say about this, the way animals are treated and the attitudes surrounding that are different today. The only way for LSU to get and keep accreditation for the habitat is to agree to no longer bring Mike to games. That is the only way for LSU to continue to have a Mike mascot on campus. It’s either what we have today or nothing, because if we backtrack and take him in the stadium again, this will be the last Mike the Tiger. The article posted earlier spells that out in detail.

I just want him to do the cage ride again. However, I don’t think he should be forced to. I don’t necessarily buy the stress bs line that’s been trotted out.

Everything was great until some fricking retard decided it would be a great idea to fire off a cannon and shoot off fireworks while he was in the damned stadium.

He refused to get into his trailer starting the following game.

Because having thousands and thousands of fans bombard his enclosure and the band marching and fans yelling and screaming 100 ft away from him in the Tiger Walk doesn’t stress him but going inside the stadium will. Really weird where we decide to draw the line on this

He has an inside area in his enclosure. If he doesn’t want to be outside during the Tiger Walk he doesn’t have to be.

This answer should be pinned somewhere

Cows, dogs, and chickens are a little different from Bengal Tigers. If this is too complicated for you, then go to the Vet School and ask them if they can let you in Mike's cage to play with him.

The previous Mike stopped wanting to load up when they started the fireworks at pregame.
They decided not to not force him.
