LSU had to be certified as a zoo, because Mike is considered an exotic animal. LSU cannot, therefore, expose Mike to any unnecessary trauma, which apparently includes pray to him around the stadium in his cage. You might remember that Mike the sixth was not brought out on the field either because of an agreement with the rescue center in Indiana, where he was living before coming to Baton Rouge. You may, or may not agree, however, but that the way it is.

For years and years Mike was in tiger stadium with the cheerleader's beating on his cage to make him roar. Show me written evidence that says this was detrimental to Mike.

It was fine for 80 years then suddenly in like 2014 it wasn’t and now everyone clutches their pearls and acts like you’re an idiot for suggesting it continue. The issue was the fireworks. We should never have done the fireworks while he was in the stadium.

Coach O wanted to ride Mike out of the tunnel to hype up the team and crowd. It was in the binder.

Contact the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. I’m certain they will have the documentation you seek.

For decades our parents smoked in cars, coaches gave out salt tablets, and concussions were not a thing. Doing it for a long doesn’t make it correct.

Soy boy.

Nothing wrong with having Mike in a cage riding around the field

Did they lose the documentation all those years before?

If you start parading the tiger around and putting it in the stadium, you don’t get a new tiger.

Ultimately this is the answer, and it blows my mind that people don’t understand this.

Whatever your feelings on PETA, general social attitudes toward tigers, etc… none of that matters.

There are only 2 things that matter:

1. LSU will not buy another tiger from a for-profit breeder, and they have not purchased a tiger since 1958. That is definitely not changing now in the wake of Tiger King and the public perception of these for-profit breeders.

2. LSU’s ability to obtain tigers from nonprofit sanctuaries hinges on those sanctuaries’ perception of LSU. If LSU does things that are not viewed as acceptable by the sanctuaries, LSU won’t be able to get another tiger.

So the options are A) parade Mike around the stadium and forfeit your ability to get another tiger in the future or B) keep Mike in his habitat and have a chance at getting another tiger when he passes.

If it were up to some of the dipshits in this thread there wouldn’t be a Mike VII.

This may come as a surprise to you, but science (including medicine) evolves and learns.

Sir Isaac Newton once established formulas that were used for hundreds of years and universally thought to be unarguably accurate; the entire civilized world used them…until they were corrected and improved by Albert Einstein. These formulas evolved as society got more knowledgeable. This is just one of many thousands of examples of science evolving and learning.

That being said, you asked for documentation. I promise you the LSU Vet School has what you’re asking for.

If you’d like to grab a large apex predator by a leash and run it around a loud field for our entertainment, I’d buy a ticket to that.

Thank peta and woke America. Lsu has caved to both in the last 2 decades. Don’t you know we’re smarter and more caring than everyone who came before us? Just don’t ask what gender Mike is.

Maybe he should have compared it to a longhorn or buffalo instead. Other people have large animals that can get out of control. North Alabama has lions. Baylor with Bears. Even Arkansas’ wild boar looks pretty mean.

Mike has been pussified ……the world was fine when they put #’s 1-5 in the trailer and paraded around the field pulled by a Audubon Ford truck with the cheerleaders on top and and costume Mike making him roar. You liberal bastards screw everything up.
