I remember Hester insisting, from what he saw in fall camp, that the running game was going to be really good this and Durham was going to be All SEC

Nuss is going to play through the injury until the bye week. That's the plan.

It makes zero sense to play him vs SELU if he actually is hurt. Even if MVB just gives you what Nuss has given you in the pass game (200 yards 1 TD), the defense will hold SELU to 1 TD or less, and the run game will be way easier to come by with a runner in MVB (meaning run option will work), they found something in the i formation last week, and the fact that they are playing SELU.

Think this more tells you how they feel about his backups right now. Word is they both look terrible in practice so that might be why they're forcing Nuss in.

Otherwise, if he plays vs SLU, we'll know it was a BS excuse from BK (at least as to the severity of the injury) thrown out after he was called out for his team's poor offensive performance to date.
You are getting downvotes, and I don't hate Kelly like others, but i too will 100% question him if he plays Nuss this week after announcing that he has a torso injury. It will come across as a cop out to the questions for the previous week.

Starting Van Buren also has the added effect of making Ole Miss waste practice time next week preparing for the possibility of a mobile QB.

DV'd for the failure to realize Ole Miss plays against a mobile QB every day in practice and has since Kiffin has been there...

if nuss sits, are we opening up the playbook or we gonna stay conservative cause we don't want the backup to look better?

I would expect to see some zone reads, if our Oline can’t push southeastern around.. we have bigger problems. Forget opening up the playbook

My educated guess … the reason he announced it was because he knows the worst is already behind. They were keeping it under wraps (specifically from Clemson and Florida) until it was pretty much healed, which I’m guessing it basically is now.

He basically said it… Something along the lines of “we’re on the other side of it now”

If it were serious or something that is going to alter the gameplan from this point forward, he would have continued to keep it under wraps like they did the first 3 weeks.

So what are we thinking Nuss plays until half?

Remember the practice before the Clemson game, when all Nuss did was handoff the ball?
Maybe making sense now…

we could beat SLU with our third string QB
And the 3rd String Center.

Let Brett Bordelon (Up to 290 lbs) start and see what he can do.

If he can't hold his own against mighty Southeastern Louisiana Junior College and Magnet High School, there is a bigger OL problem that most of us even realize.

I think all logical people realize he should sit all week but don’t realize BK has a LM sized amount of hardheadedness.

Really think it should be done on the off chance you actually need Van Buren at some point during the season. At least he would have that start under his belt and it won’t be so foreign this season for him.

Anyone saying the injury is BS and Kelly is lying is an idiot.I could see there was something wrong before the Tech game and said so on here and had the usual morons saying that was stupid. The severity of it is irrelevant. Some injuries you can play with and just heal over time. They are 3-0 with him playing injured and with Moore injured for 2 games. Yes I would sit him but to say if he plays then kelly was lying is just blatant stupidity and total KDS.

Not just that but it gives you a chance to evaluate Van Buren and give him experience in the scenario that you need him to play in a high leverage situation at some point this season.

If Nuss is truly so injured that he can't throw it 30 yards down the field more than a handful of times in 3 games, then it's definitely wise to assume we'll need the backup to play at some point this season.

If we can’t win this weekend by over 40 points starting our QB2, BK needs to be fired for fraud. The guy is more full of excuses than imaginable at times.
