The LSU secondary is still as weak as I’ve seen it, at least in the last 20 years.

It's not the weakest I've seen in the last 2 years....

Yea, great job with all of the DT’s. That’s something will be forced to address this year as well now.
he actually did a good job. Two of the three big time portal Days are riding pine and costing a fortune

Unfortunately he also missed with House which at this point, seems to have been most of the issue.

I think this is the root of the issue. It seems no one wanted to play for this guy. See Mekhi Wingo post-bowl game video as evidence.

Also most of these kids were in early middle school the last time LSU was actually DBU, so they probably don't even know what an LSU defense is supposed to look like

just a few years ago? You understand that players only stay at schools 2 to 3 years max now anyways right?

Your are getting downvoted, but our defense is very weak in the secondary, which is hard to believe at LSU, and we lack depth overall on defense. This is what will keep us out of the playoffs. People are on here gushing over him in the portal, but as you said, our defense lacks talent and it is YEAR 3. I could see the first year, and potentially the second year, but not the third year. We are fighting to be a top 60 defense, and people are happy.

I wouldn’t say very weak. We’re not in a bad spot at cb. Ashton stamps has taken a nice jump and only a true sophomore, true freshmen pj woodland will be a damn good player for us, zy Alexander is super steady and jk Johnson is playing solid ball now that he’s healthy. Thats not even mentioning the monster cb class we have coming in next year as it’s arguably the best corner class in the country

Agree, we’re closer than a lot of fans think on D, we just need the interior Dline to improve. They have since the 1st half vs UCLA but it’s been against 2 weak teams so we’ll have to wait and see whether it’s real or not.

Agreed that was a position group I was worried about after the jacobien guillory injury. However, the Wisconsin transfer has played solid, stone looks ok, ahmad breaux is a nice lookin true freshmen DT and Dominik mckinley is finally getting on the field. But yea we’re getting into the tough sec gauntlet of our schedule now so we’re truly gonna find out of the trenches can hold up

I think McKinley could be a difference maker if he continue to get more reps. So far he’s looked very good.

The interior d line has actually played better than expected

You should be worried about safety.

It’s truly funny how soon ppl forget things lol. Now is the corner group a classic dbu unit? No is it still talented and light years better then last year ? Hell yes

I guess it depends on your expectation. I agree with you about safety only because Kelly refuses to take Burns off the field.

It's been debunked repeatedly. *38* players available for a meaningless bowl game following a head coach's departure doesn't mean the program only had 38 players on the roster and you know that.

If it’s been debunked then how many players were from the previous team when he got here? Please tell.

He had to actively close out the 2022 class high school class and transfer class. None of those guys were on the 2021 roster. He only had 17 mid year enrollees going into spring, so at best he got it up 60-65 players for his first spring here if transfers weren’t counted in those 17 mid-year enrollees. WOW that’s a real talented championship roster Orgeron’s regime left him.

What was your expectation?

They basically had guillory coming back and that was it.

Except we won 10 games in his first and second seasons here?

Did it ever occur to you it was because BK is a good coach and recruiter that we won those 10 games despite the poor roster position he inherited?

I think the DB's and DL will be strengths in the near future, we are getting young pups that will grow over time...

Really? I’d love to just never hear about it again. New coach, several recruiting cycles later …. It’s ancient history.
