Glad to see someone else pose this question. While I'm still a CFB sicko and a lunatic LSU fan, I do not feel the same level of connection to the sport or to this team as I did prior to transfer portal and NIL. I'm glad the players are getting some of the money that they are earning for these schools, but it was much easier to connect with the sport when players were more humble and stayed at their schools for much longer. CFB has become a little more of a selfish system for all involved.

The only situation I can imagine would truly hurt my fandom is if LSU had a great player the fans loved and he chose to transfer to a rival solely for the purpose of a small increase in NIL payment.

Bull’s eye for my view, as well.

Spot on.

Probably as much or more. Folks that cite "school loyalty" or the " "amateurism" that they miss, overlooked their traditional power that got the best players and often paid money under the table. Now with a wide range of alumni bases that have the appetite and resources to pony up, we'll see more parity in the game.

Of course, you need the right coach, but, for example, Indiana has Cignetti and a monster alumni landscape with the funds to dwarf most SEC schools if they choose to focus on more aggressive football-centric spending.

Less and less.

I went from having stadium club tickets and not missing a game for many years to not going to a game for the last 5 years. I just realized that I'll be out of town on opening weekend. Oh well.

major change in interest for me. I prefer the old system, especially when LSU was one of the better under the table negotiators, and when players developed. I hate having to learn the names of the starting player every year....but it is what it is. Geaux Tigers

Now deprived of the delusion that the players love LSU and are like me just talented my support is razor thin now. Still love the brand but I’m beginning to think it’s just habit.

I thought I was losing interest because of NIL, but then I realized it was more because of Brian Kelly.

CFB...same
LSU....less

One of my joys was watching recruits and seeing them progress to starters at LSU, seeing them on ST early and a few snaps and growing from there.

I never followed other teams as closely, so no real change as a whole.

I care less and less as the years go by. Because of what college football has turned into I no longer feel the connection to the players or the coaches. Sure, I will continue to watch on Saturdays, but the results no longer affect me the way they used too. A win, I'm happy. A loss, I shrug my shoulders and move on. My money no longer goes to season tickets. Matter of fact, after I gave up my season tickets I haven't been back to a game in seven years. Recliner, big screen TV and air conditioning works just fine for me.
