Has LSU ever had a quarterback with as much moxie as Joe?

This kid keeps a chip on his shoulder, trash talks opponents, loves his teammates, never quits, and owns it like a man when he fricks up.

He is sure fun to watch. He’s so different than any LSU QB in my memory.

THANKS, Ohio State!

Yes. But don’t compare, just enjoy the games.

Moxie

God, yet another "sports" word that is way too great of a word for sports. Add poise and palpable.
Announcers should just grunt every now and then instead of using words that should be reserved for finer things.

i was thinking similar this week. When was the last LSU QB that was a true team leader? Rohan Davey is the one that comes to mind. He seemed to be a team favorite and brought out the best in everybody around him. Burrow seems to be heading that direction and certainly will be next year.

Rohan, he was a tough SOB and could sling it. Might be my favorite LSU QB. He would get speared but still get the pass off. Plus Rohan2Reed

Danny wasn’t the most gifted quarterback, but he was tough as hell and never quit. He took some serious shots to extend plays or scramble for first downs. I have nothing but respect for Etling.

Etling was also 6-2, not 7-1.

I'd trade that Moxie in a heartbeat if it could give us a little better QB play this Saturday.

I love Burrow, much like Etling he gives it his all out there, that's all I can ask for.

But he's an average college QB. Though the one pass I'll give him is our coaching schemes don't seem to ever scheme wide open WRs like we see other top teams do over and over game after game. We just don't do that, so the deck is kind of stacked against him, and he may be a tad better than we think because of that.

Hodson bit his tongue in half against UK in 86 as a RS Freshman and finished the game. He was a tough sob. Rohan beat Tennessee in 2000 with a high ankle sprain. It was so bad that he sat out most of the rest of the season until the Peach Bowl. He was a freaking warrior. Herb Tyler played with the flu one game.

I like Etling, he was tough, but he is not a great comparison to Burrow. It was clear at the beginning of his first game against Alabama that he was rattled. Burrow may be also, but I have yet to see him get rattled, he is always under control, never panics, and seems to have a better grasp of the position.
