After watching the dumpster fire in Tennessee and Ole Miss hiring Matt fricking Luke as their head coach, is Alleva still the worst? He still sucks but he looks like a genius in comparison.

Can you really criticize the Ole Miss hire?

Any coach that is worth a damn won’t go anywhere near that disaster until the smoke clears from the NCAA investigation.

Ole Miss made the right move considering the circumstances

Tennessee made plain silly moves

Hiring a coach that was on campus during the whole time they were cheating. If something else breaks that would implicate Luke even just heard about some of what was happening it could get even uglier at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss wasn’t going to get anyone willing to take on that challenge. The only other coach that I can think of which might have been able to get them through what is fixing to happen would be Miles. He probably would have been a good choice as well.

Ole Miss hiring Luke with serious sanctions looming isn’t as bad as hiring Orgeron.

However, the Tennessee situation is a different story.

Not even close.

Ole Miss may have been able to get Norvell or Morris but if the sanctions are as bad as being discussed OM isn’t winning in the near term if Saban was there. Ride the storm out a couple of years with Luke then do a proper search.

Tenn screwed up with Schiano but still has a shot to land a good coach let’s call it incomplete.

Holding up Ole Miss as the standard. This is how we ended up with O.

Yes he’s still the worst. He’s done far more than make one bad hire

So we just forget about Johnny Jones, Fargas and the other idiots he's hired bc some other schools made bad choices?

This is the most stupid logic there is.

But let's not forget it was that administration that put all their eggs in Freeze's basket and tried to blame everything on Nutt. Yes...excellent job he is doing over there in Oxford.

Ole Miss had no choice in hiring Luke. Who would take that job at this point while being handcuffed by the NCAA

Hell no! Thanks to Alleva's fiascos with the Duke Lacrosse Team and at LSU, his reputation is still rock solid.

Luke has no head coaching experience and some experience as a co-offensive coordinator.

It was a panic hire because they had maybe no real other options. The AD at Ole Miss was in charge when all ten violations with Freeze occurred. How he gets a pass for all that happened at Ole Miss is beyond me.

Ole Miss should clean house with their AD and coaching staff. Then they might have a fresh story to tell recruits. Luke was a terrible hire, most likely a place holder until the ncaa storm passses.

He could possibly keep his job if he strung a couple good years together, but with the sanctions and resulting lack of talent, putting winning seasons together at Ole Miss would be hard for Nick Saban, much less Matt Luke Mark and John.

Tennessee hired a mediocre head coach to a top 30 job. Alleva hired a barely coherent DL coach to a top 5 job. Joe is the fricking emperor of incompetence.
