National titles take a lot of talent and some luck.

The last 4 years, LSU transfer portal ranking has been:
4th, 9th, 48th, and now 7th.....

Look at the product on the field recently.....the portal can be very deceptive.
There are reasons why players enter the portal, and many times it aint good.
Developing high school talent is a better approach, IMO.

If you get a bye you don’t play at home, you play at a bowl site.

Agreed.

It is why I placed more value on a playoff appearance.
But if it's more likely, wouldn't that give it a lesser value?

Your list is generally in order of easiest to hardest.

It's harder to get into the SECCG than the playoffs. If you get into the SECCG, you're going to the playoffs. The reverse is not necessarily true.

So, you know, it ought to be:

A playoff appearance = a good season

An SEC championship appearance = a very good season

Not for me.

The ultimate goal is to win a natty, and that now means playoffs.

9-4 LSU from two years ago may not have made the playoffs, despite playing in Atlanta.

Is it likely to reoccur without divisions? No.

However, it’s not impossible.

A 9-3 LSU could have lost in Atlanta THIS year, as weird as that sounds.

A 9-4 record, with a SEC championship game loss, prolly = not making the playoffs.

That is why I differentiated.

Just my .02.

I really like the make-up of the team from a talent, depth and experience standpoint. I think Baker has enough defensive talent at all 3 levels to have a dynamic defense. Adding a safety completes the build, but I think the young guys like Spears and Toviano along with possibly moving Delane to S would be solid.

Offense is dependent on how quickly the OL gels and Nuss building chemistry with the new receivers.

It's time for BK to get his first opening win for LSU. @Clemson is going to be very tough. Get that win and this team could be very dangerous.

The best part of the recruiting class is there is genuinely not much room in terms of points from 1-10. It was a great haul especially in compliment with our portal gets

How much research have you done on the players that other schools have been picking up? It's a legitimate question, I think we have done great, but why do you think that there is no way that 6 other teams

Michigan has 8 to our 14 with 21 leaving to our 17. On top of that we have 7 top 100 players to there 1….

Maybe I’m dumb but their class isn’t even in the same stratosphere.

And yet scores of idiots that post here were screaming to fire BK.

He still has a way to go (he made a mistake or two in his first season), but he is FIRMLY positioning us to be dominant over the next 10 years.

How anyone could see 2 complete Barney Fife type coaches win it at LSU, then expect BK NOT to win one or more is preposterous.

CBK and Gordon have been absolutely killing NIL. CBK is putting money where is mouth is when he said he is here to win national championship. 11-1 is the expectation, with a deep run into the playoffs. If the stars align during the playoffs, we have the potential to win it all and add another Heisman trophy along the way.

Hell frickin no! If we win 8 games next season brian kelly is on the hottest of hot seats. That is not acceptable in any way shape or form for this LSU team. It wasnt even acceptable this season, much less next season.

You can't do that when half of them leave every year. I'd expect about a third of your new players every year will be portal from here on out.

You can keep recruiting blue chips all you want, but if half the 3 deep leaves every offseason, you've got to replace them.

I just don't see the wisdom in signing 40 high schoolers every year vs 25 high schoolers and 15 rentals.

Yea. And this year proved that even an ordinary team like Tennessee can get into the playoffs by winning the right games.
