Edit- And all the phony virtue signalers in this thread who are taking the side of the players over their political BS deserve this season, as well. You are all pathetic.

I’m sure Metaloctopus would have a very level headed response if O says that Biden is doing a great job in office next year.

Some of y’all can’t see that if the shoe were on the other foot, you’d feel just like the players do.

How did it work out the last time an LSU star player supported a march ?
I recall a few dead LEOs and a severely disabled one in the aftermath movement

When I read posts like this I wonder if the football players are acting negatively to a single, ill-advised action by Orgeron in going on FOX News is the problem, or if what they really find dispiriting is the incessant drumbeat of LSU fans in social media, who constantly spew vitriol toward black folks (young males in particular) and anyone else who has the temerity to disagree with Trump's White Nationalism.
I can see why that would sow discontent in the locker room.
If you don't want young black males with opinions in your school, you should just say so...
They disagree with you, but that doesn't entitle you to conclude they are "lazy". Maybe you cannot escape your own stereotypes...

I’m not sure what this has to do with complimenting Trump on Fox News?

I have no idea what would upset these players. They lack all basic logic. No telling what would or wouldn’t set them off

I have spelled it out in this thread if you need a reference

Years ago Saban said the toughest thing to do is motivate a team that won the title the year before. I do believe most become complacent and don't put in the same work necessary to be great...and I believe the coaches probably do the same.

It makes sense

You win a title and have a chance at going to the NFL, you start thinking purely about the NFL. You’ve accomplished what you needed to in college.

Tough gig for coaches. Also agree coaches do it too. It’s human nature.

Alabama welcomed Trump to campus for the game with LSU. Was there not any fallout in Tuscaloosa with players because of this? The audacity to say something good about a man who welcomed you to his home, said nice things about you, and let you dance like morons. How dare O!

All very true points about motivation but none of those teams (like the 9-4 2004 team or the 10-3 2010 Alabama team) played with so little motivation as this LSU squad.

I’m actually wondering how much Raymond, Busch, and the elder DL coach really understand the assignments of this Pelini scheme themselves. I dont think the breakdown could be entirely just the players alone to be this awful. Malveto was bad but not this terrible.

In a normal year, we’d probably be looking at a 7-5 year, so not terribly different than those records

But yes, the point is that learning to operate after a championship is equally as important as learning how to get there. Saban has spoken on it, Sean Payton has spoken on it.

The Administration of the University of Alabama welcomed him, while Saban has total control over his football program there, just as here, he does not run those types of things at Alabama nor did he run them here.

Coach O went on a news Network that half the country sees as Pro-Trump. Had O gone to MSNBC or CNN, half the country would have seen him going on to a network that was Pro-Biden.

Why go on the news networks?

If the players are going to quit and play like crap over that bs protest than LSU should shut the program down over some privileged athletes manif whom wouldn’t sniff college other than because they can run, hit, throw or catch a ball.

VolTiger13 posted this earlier today. Not only were the players not happy about coach O’s Trump comments but the BOS were pissed too

Posted by VolTiger13 on 12/7/20 at 9:52 am to saturncube21
It could go either way, and I wouldn’t be surprised... The BOS is primed to fire him if there is even a shred of credible evidence he knew and did nothing. Ice has never been thinner. Couple that with the fact the vast majority of the BOS are very liberal (statement of fact not criticizing politics here) and got extremely pissed off by O’s “Trump is doing a great job” comment.

Vol should stick with recruiting.
He is clueless about the politics of the BOS on this issue, although many posters’ political biases want him to be right.
The BOS is pissed at Orferon’s work product and his behavior, not his politics.
