That may be true but it still wasn’t smart of O. When you are in the business of recruiting 16-18 year olds African Americans, you should probably just avoid politics best you can.

Thats exactly what he did They are mad he didn’t interject himself into their politics

the nick saban lead march was a total farce. it was a PR move only meant to appease the masses and make him look good.

And it was the week after LSU’s players acted a fool.

And it worked. The intent matters far less than the outcome.

This!

How fricking pathetic. Orgeron didn't go on the campaign trail with Trump. He wasn't passing out MAGA hats and forcing the team to wear them. He was simply complementary and gracious to the President for being complementary of his team. I doubt he gave two shits about it from a political standpoint. If this was a "problem" it says FAR more about the players than the coach.

The reason Alabama "handled it better" is because they weren't in the spotlight with respect to the President because they didn't win anything last season. LSU was in the spotlight because they were the national champs. Had they not been, the POTUS would have paid as much attention to LSU as he did every other school. Which is not much.

I don't give a shite what political party you support. If it is wrong for a coach to simply be appreciative of complements from the president then something is wrong with YOU.

This is the problem with this country! Getting hammered over a persons political beliefs is just the beginning of the end.

Agreed.

Politics was brought into college athletics due to politicians not allowing sports to happen.

Everything there is true..... plus I’ll even add that on the football side of it, Bama players still know who is the boss..... I don’t think LSU players do anymore.

Obviously his comment about loving Trump didn’t sit well, but that comment was about how Trump has treated Ed and the team personally, not about politics.

Agree on both

I can’t imagine caring about my boss’ politics

He probably should have just said he wasn’t going on any news networks that weren’t local or solely sports related

Idk. It’s silly, I agree

People have this completely backwards

Coach O didn’t play politics which is why the players are mad. Coach O simply wanted football so he gave positive news about the Democrat governor and Republican president in order to say football would be ok

That’s literally not being political. Then he didn’t go to the protest because that is political as well

The players are just soft as I could ever imagine if there is any truth to this. I think O has sucked this year, but if this is the crop of players he was dealing with he had no shot to have a football team worth a shite

i heard first hand from a player's mom that the blm protest and ryan clark are what caused some players to not be unified and division to set it.

It's pretty clear O did not communicate with his players as well as he could have. I honestly think his players wouldn't care nearly as much about what he thinks of the president if he just talked to them without Jacoby Stevens having to speak up first.

Just speculating.

This has nothing to do with our OL sucking
Nothing to do with Brennan getting hurt
Nothing to do with Clark sucking at LB
Nothing to do with completely blown coverages
Nothing to do with our RBs having average talent

The team didn’t quit on Orgeron because of the BLM protest or support for Trump.

You’re completely skipping the part where he went on Fox News and said good things about Trump.

Look, I don’t care either, but to just gloss over that is willful ignorance. The players obviously saw that and i have no doubt it played a role, particularly in combination with skipping the protests, as you mentioned.

The protest or whatever you wanna call it is how the team, the coaches, and the LSU brass lost a large segment of the fan base.

I fricking verbatim talked about that. Try to keep up

He said kind things about both Trump and JBE. He was fighting for his players to play. Talking well about both sides on a singular issue is the meaning of not being political
