Skip retired fairly young after just turning 63. By comparison Mike Martin brought his teams to Omaha 5 times after turning 64.

As a 52 year old who remembers the old box being empty to nights lit up with Jim Bowie hitting bombs, to the national championships, to the new stadium, its nostalgic to me seeing the evolution of lsu baseball.

Can only imagine what it’s like being the man behind all of that. Had the pleasure of talking with him briefly at our tailgate one year. Years after his coaching and AD days, and he still spoke about a vision for lsu athletics. Truly a legend.

i think about that a lot but there was a trend of coaches takes AD positions.

Cohen at MSU
Tanner at SCar (or whatever his name is)

I assume we pay them well enough now not to and want someone more business savvy as AD

Took my 17 yr old to his book signing at the TN series. We were the last ones in line. He was very gracious and talked to my son for a minute. He told him to study hard and always be prepared. My son was in awe as was I. One of those times in life you savor the moment because you know you’re in the presence of greatness. I bought 3 books and he signed them all individually. My son has already finished his. Got my dad and step dad one for Fathers day.

Glad to see they got Coach Bertman a championship cap! I was pleased when the camera showed him at the dugout after the game was over. It's always a good idea to honor your heritage.

Skip is the best. He’s the most personable guy you’ll ever talk to. We take it for granted in 2025 what he built, but he deserves all the flowers we can possibly give him.

I love the mentality of Evans. He is an absolute bulldog on the mound.

Bertman is great with the kids, encourage everyone to bring their kids to meet him if given an opportunity.

National treasure gets at least one more trip to Omaha. And with Jay at the helm, I think a few more in short order.
