The man came into a terrible situation.

And who knows, sometimes the story that starts out bad winds up legendary.

And sometimes the story that starts out legendary turns into a nightmare.

Give the man a fair chance.

I want to do it this way so bad but think it could just be impossible today.
He needs help from boosters.

I’d be a lot more sympathetic to the whole “he inherited nothing” thing if multiple other coaches in our league didn’t walk into the almost exact situation and find a way to assemble a roster that doesn’t get brained every night

He is underperforming in year 1 relative to the situation he was in to start the year. He deserves a year 2, but if he doesn't show improvement, can his arse

Do you think basketball and football are equal when it comes to developing players, transfers, etc?
Daddy Dale had 5 or so years and it took him buying Rudy and others to get good.

This is about putting up money Temple. Why won’t you PUT UP OR STHU?

How about you Daddy Dale? You need to PUT UP MONEY SO HE CAN BUY PLAYERS.

PERIOD.

For 80% of the SEC schedule, the team has looked like they have wanted to be anywhere other than the basketball court. That is 100% on coaching. Also, for the supposed X’s and O’s guru that McMahon was supposed to be, the offense looks pathetic.

I’m not saying fire him now, but he better hope he can pull a fricking rabbit out of a hat in the transfer portal or you are looking at an even worse situation next year.

So your argument if him is “Who knows, Sometimes the unlikely happens?”

If a new unproven football coach came in and was worse than the previous coach nobody would be saying to give him 2 more years.

Yea I was willing to wait and be patient but his offense sucks cock and he is blowing on the recruiting trail. Then we have the issue if the games not even being competitive. You put his energy and all those things together plus other coaches managing to be competitive in similar situations it makes it worse.

Next season could be just as bad. That's a lot riding on year 3...

IMHO he's getting that regardless and I genuinely hope he makes us all including me look like idiots.

Agree, would be happy to eat crow when it comes to McMahon but what the excuse makers who don’t follow basketball don’t get is this is a poorly coached and underprepared team. The canned excuses don’t bother with the details of playing good basketball, being fundamentally sound or playing smart. Nobody expected this team to win the SEC but they are underperforming even by the lower pre season expectations.

If there is no marked improvement next year, he may not get a third, and probably should not unless there is a hammer about to fall. And, unfortunately, it does not look good right now for next year's recruiting class.

He is too nice to win at LSU. For his career sake I hope he leaves for another job ASAP. Nice coaches never succeed at winning at LSU in basketball.

I have to agree Mad. You and I don't always agree as you well know, but on this point we do. We have underperformed even to the most reasonable and tempered expectations, and to deny that is pure rationalization in defense of CMM.

I want him to do well. I want him to succeed. And IMHO he will be given time to do just that whether we like it or not. I hope he does, but so far I'm concerned at what I've seen to this point.

It’s run like a HS program. Despite a bloated administrative staff we have no basketball operations personnel like we had with Jones and Wade. LSU just doesn’t want to spend any money on basketball. Our recruiting budget jumped up a lot under our last 2 hires and they’d rather not spend that money, pocket the TV check and call it a day.

The people who forgot this was a total tear down and rebuild, and were expecting this team to come out like the ‘96 Bulls have been being ridiculous. They should be mad at themselves for expecting too much from this team, and for moronically blaming Scott for everything. Anybody with a brain knew this would be a rough season.
