He's not the most disciplined player at the plate, but doesnt have the bats ahead of him like last year.

what is Tommy doing that makes him more prone to hitting into a double play?

In a nutshell: he hits the ball hard and has little speed.

None of his double plays have been to the right side.

So it may not be a product of having guys on base.

it’s called math

neither Dugas nor Crews hit behind a guy with a who was on base 56.7% of the time.

but hey maybe tommy sucks.

Maybe you’ve secretly found that out.

Definitely not a line drive hitter! Something needs to be tweaked with his swing.

Math and odds are more prevalent in baseball than any other sport.

Slow and bad pitch selection. Tommy is a good "bad ball hitter" but he needs to get more selective. He rolls over balls that are dwon and away that he should spit on

A lot of that is just because he doesn’t strike out often and guys are on base when he is hitting.

I’m not sure if he’s 100% recovered from his off season shoulder surgery. His swing doesn’t look quite the same. It kind of reminds me of when golfers lose confidence in their swing. They end up losing consistency and doing so many things to correct it. White doesn’t look completely comfortable at the plate. I also think he’s wasting swings on pitches slightly out of the zone too. He needs a reset.

He was in a double play situation more than any other player in the country last season I’d imagine with the way Crews got on base nearly every at bat. More double play chances more double plays.

You’re seeing ghosts baw. I love Tommy and trust Jay. Just trying to better understand the relationship between stats and performance.

Show me on the doll where the Rantard touched you.

The SB has become obsolete more recently

You’re going back 12 seasons

Regardless, I’m not worried about a guy that can handle the bat like Tommy White

He knows how to not only hit with 2 strikes, but to do it with power. Some of his DP problem is probably related to putting the ball in play when some would have already K’d

Talented players who hit the ball hard hit into a lot of double plays.

The all time MLB leader in GIDP is Albert Pujols.
