Lafayette baws love to root for LSU when we win. But they love rubbing it in when we lose.

Trash city

You’re so wrong. Laf. Is not a trash city, actually, it’s a better place to live than most cities in LA. I live here, and I absolutely love LSU and so many of my neighbors and friends do that live here as well. My daughter goes to LSU, I went to LSU. Get off your high horse and don’t judge a city by one individual who happened to make some bad calls in a game who is from that city.

I don’t know the SEC rules for assigning refs to games, but I have a frat brother who is a SEC ref (not head ref) and he says that he would not be assigned to LSU games. He lives in Metairie.

The rule is you cannot officiate a game for your alma mater. I know Adam Savoie, lead ref in this ND/Miami game.

He went to UT for undergrad and LSU for law school, so he cannot officiate games that either team participate in.

Was he the head referee in the game. The nerd looking guy? or the black guy that never gets anything correct....like the oob on the td catch.

I live in Lafayette and there are way more LSU fans than ULL fans.

Would you want to be the head official calling game for a local team knowing the entire state is going to shite all over you for every call you make that they don’t like?

I call bs on this claim. LSU is not welcome in Lafayette.

Yeah ok… I’m from the Lafayette area. My first college game was a USL game and my second was watching Kevin Faulk in TS. A trip to Tiger Stadium was a big deal for us.

Here are some facts for you:

- outside of a niche group of faculty or goofy alumni, many UL students are LSU fans. I don’t need you to convince me. I have enough family and friends that would confirm.

- go to any restaurant / entertainment venue in Lafayette. They will 100% have some sort of LSU decor. Not something you’d expect to see in a college town that hates you, right? Do you think you’ll find UT themed entertainment in College Station?

- Cajun musicians rep LSU, most of them from Lafayette area. Not something you’d expect for a region that supposedly hates LSU right? Don’t take my word for it… Google it yourself. You’ll see plenty of pics confirming.

- As an LSU fan, you can’t separate yourself from Lafayette and Acadiana no matter how much you want to. Lafayette and the Acadiana region is a significant part of the LSU brand. Without Cajun people, you’re just New Orleans.

He needs to not officiate a collegiate football game again.

This is not true at all. I was born and raised in Abbeville and I know way more LSU fans from Lafayette (and Abbeville) than ULL fans.
Of the ULL fans I know, 90% also love LSU. Your take is just flat wrong.

Yeah, I'm not sure if you ever lived over there but I will say at least 50% of the population there does not see it this way. They absolutely do hate LSU and view it as the yankees of the north or something. I don't know why tbh but they definitely have a huge population over there that hates LSU. Lots of two-facers over there will root for LSU then celebrate when they lose. That's my experience with them.

Eh, from around there. It was different when actually attending LSU. Lots of friends and folks despised LSU, now that we are all in our 40’s-50’s, seems most people have calmed down on that grudge. We root for ULL and LSU, too many neighbors, mixed bag of fans but no hate.

Its not the city of Lafayette, its UL-Lafayette fans. Most of them have little brother syndrome. To tge point that many of them jumped on the Bama bandwagon after the Sugar Bowl vs Bama in 2012.

From Lafayette, gone for a while to here in B.R. Can't speak to the anti-LSU buzz there today but it certainly existed for a good while. Started when the USL crowd thought that the Legislature was dominated by LSU grads & that Legislature was responsible for USL not getting funding for a new huge computer dept. LSU getting those funds instead. This was back in the late 70's - early / mid 80's or so. The computer issue was / is a fact, not just BS gossip. LSU does have a huge alumni base there, as well many "street" fans. But though smaller in comparison, the anti-LSU bias is loud & prominent in many parts of Lafayette's professional & social circles. Go to any LSU/USL baseball or softball game & those passions are evident. The softball crowds got so bad Skip stopped playing them for several years. There was a big in-game brawl among the players, fed by the crowds, at The Box that was ugly. Last time I was in town it was during the annual LSU / bama & there were bama jerseys all over the Oil Center & Red's.

There are plenty of folks in Lafayette who really hate LSU. But it is not a majority of people in Lafayette Parish. A majority of folks there will pull for LSU.

This is the SEC INTENTIONALLY doing this. They only care about 2 teams now Tejas and Bama.

There's no way this 10 upvotes and only 3 downvotes. I simply can't believe this board is that stupid. It's insane how many people on here think that the SEC league office wanted LSU to lose to Clemson. Y'all are so fricking desperate to be the victim.
