Enzinger, Emminger, Enswinger....someday maybe he'll get it right.

When I saw the title I clicked to downvote. When I read the thread, I ended up upvoting.

Apparently, most fan bases feel this way
Makes one think the issue isn't Gary Danielson...it's the sensitive fans that listen to him....

After rewatching the game myself, I realized that my bias of Danielson was definitely influenced during the emotion of the game. The only thing that I heard him say to really dis the Tigers was 1:38 left in the game. Maybe not intentional. "I do want to talk about Georgia. Cmon lets think about this. They do control their own destiny. If they win out and beat an undefeated Alabama team in the Sec Championship, a one loss Sec team will be in the there with one loss." Really?! No one thinks Saban can lose....It will happen soon!

I think your interpretation is off. I don't think he was saying that Alabama would definitely win out. I think he was saying that was their best chance to make it...if they proved themselves against an unbeaten Bama. Makes sense too - because let's say it was LSU they beat...that would make them 1-1 against that team, which is less impressive than beating a lossless Bama.
Also, not long before these remarks you quoted, he spent time on an analysis he prepared comparing Auburn last season (after losing to LSU) to LSU this season (after losing to Florida). And he said the same thing - LSU controls their own destiny (and if they beat Bama, they are headed to the SEC title game.)

Maybe the problem is with Gary and not every college football fan in America?
Just spit balling here.
Gary and Verne were awful. Now, it’s just Gary who is awful. Brad Nessler is great.

This is an awesome read. Thanks.

He's just negative all the time. I think folks only pay attention when he's being negative about their team. His actual analysis isn't far off, he's just a dick about it.
This. All of this. I don't think Gary hates LSU, I just think he usually couches his commentary as a negative. So, if there is a great offensive play, he points out how the defense screwed up to allow it. If there is a great defensive play, he paints it as a miscommunication on offense or something. Not always, but more than the other guys. ESPN announcer might say, "What a great catch!" and Gary might say, "The defender misread the quarterback" about the same play, or something along those lines.

I've never understood the anti Danielson bias on this board.

All you guys think Gary has free reign to say what he wants during a live broadcast?

The bias doesn't exist. He's easily the best color guy in college football.

I like his play-calling evaluations. He does love him some Tide though.

No. He isn’t.
He isn’t biased against every team. He just comes off whiny and negative and he makes you think your team is terrible. It’s him.

Gary is pretty good no matter what anyone says.

He has a problem framing his comments in a way that doesn't sound condescending. He makes a lot of great observations but then plants doubts about the legitimacy of the play. It's usually faint praise at best, at least from my LSU listening experience.
