He's done 3 LSU games this year and has yet to pronounce "Ensminger" correctly.

Well, I have no problem with Gary. There are much worse on TV. He knows the sport well. Fans are just overly sensitive about their team no matter where they are.

Rewatch the UGA game. He mentioned the "bad" spot (it wasn't a bad spot) that went in LSU's favor no fewer than 8 times at varying points in the second half.
It was a terrible spot.

Gary doesn't "love" or "hate" any team more than any other from week to week. What he DOES do is choose a horse before each game, and openly root for that team and against the other. It happens every broadcast. He makes excuses for the team he thinks is better while qualifying the success of the opponent. Rewatch the UGA game. He mentioned the "bad" spot (it wasn't a bad spot) that went in LSU's favor no fewer than 8 times at varying points in the second half.

This. He picks a team every game and is so one-sided in his calls the whole game.

One thing other posts have not mentioned though- He ALWAYS has to inject at least 1 Alabama comment per game. "Alabama does it this way".

Between the two items above, he drives me NUTS!

I finally re-watched the UGA game. Based on that - and almost all past history - it's completely obvious that Gary is: a)the best commentator in the game and b)he does not dislike LSU (even in the slightest) nor show any bias. He gushed about Burrow and more than once thought a replay was clearly in LSU's favor. etc. etc.

The snowflakes that continue to conjure this "bias" in their heads are hopelessly lost.

One specific example of bias that was cited on here after the game was when the kicker (Atkins) recovered that fumble. The claim was made that Danielson attempted to say it was a bad call because Atkins might have gone out of bounds before touching the ball. That is not what happened. What happened was, when watching the replay, Gary said it needs to be confirmed if any LSU players that touched the ball went out of bounds first. I agree. I was scared that maybe one of them had. They hadn't. Moving on to the next play.

The most that can be said is that, as he starts pushing 70, perhaps he has lost a half step. He will make a mistake from time to time that I don't think he used to make. But this "bias" nonsense is just that.

I can’t help but to believe even Gary will be rooting for the tigers on nov 3rd.

I’m pretty sure everyone on face of he earth that remotely follows college football is sick of Alabama.
Sorry gumps, all good things do come to an end.

No, it wasn't. (see how that works)

Regardless, there were several spots on both sides of the ball that were questionable... Gary mentioned exactly ZERO of those.

The people that honestly think he's biased against the teams they root for are complete morons.

He is a contrarian and he rubs multiple teams the wrong way on just 1 comment alone. It's just his style.

When you spot the ball a full yard ahead of where it went out, it's a terrible spot. It was a bad spot at best.

The thing I don't like, is when he searches too hard for something to overturn a play.

He was searching on that interception, but admitted nothing showed the ball touching the ground. he called the reversal when the UGA guy bobbled the ball on the sidelines.

During the UGA game, he even went through the trouble to produce the analysis comparing LSU's current season (post UF loss) to Auburn's last year (after losing to LSU) and how they went on to beat Bama and advance to the SEC Title game.

That is to say he was indulging Tiger fan fantasies of making the playoff despite the brutal schedule. Yeah, he really hates LSU.

I'll tell you what Gary is a homer for: the SEC. Despite playing his college ball in the Big 10 and growing up in Michigan, he CHOOSES to stick with the SEC out of love of the highest levels of the game. No time was this more evident than in the 2006 SEC Title game; during the closing minutes of that broadcast, he essentially argued Florida in based on that result. I do believe he actually influenced the voters.

Admittedly, I was once a member of the “Gary hates LSU” club and found everything he said to be anti-lsu. But after years of hearing that jabroni call games with schools not named lsu, I now know that I hate him no matter who is on the field. He could be calling a water polo match and I’d probably still want to throw my shoe through screen listening to his takes.

He also exclaimed "Oh! What a great play!" when Delpit leaped up and knocked a pass down right before the Fulton interception.

When Nessler said Delpit was "on his way" to being one of the best safeties in CFB, Danielson immediately chimed in and said "he's already there"

At the beginning of the TD drive where LSU went up 23-9, he commented that Burrow should get in the huddle and tell his guys they just need one big drive to put the game away.

On Coach O, he said O is doing a great job of getting the guys to play for the name on the front of the jersey instead of the back

Gary is neutral in all of the games. It's all of the fanbases who are biased and interpret comments the way they want to hear them vs. just what they are...objective comments.

After Burrow's 59 yard keeper in the 4th quarter, Gary gave a semi-inspiring psychological rundown of Burrow's transfer. Essentially, it was: so you're telling me I'm not good enough to start for Ohio State? Well, then, frick YOU - I'll go to LSU where I KNOW I will have to face the best of the best week in and week out.

The guy played college and pro and clearly loves and understands the game. He identifies with these kids and doesn't give a shite which team they play for. He understands on a gut level what someone like Burrow has gone through and what this payoff must feel like for him.

Sad that such a student of the game triggers you snowflakes so much.
