I don’t like his teaching style. Long winded, not pointed, scrambled. How’s an 8th grader supposed to process all that

Agreed. He's not very concise and repeats himself a bunch.

I particularly liked the part when he told the kid that if he can't put everything he's supposed to think about on a 3x5 index card, then he's thinking about too much. He then preceded to go on for another 10 minutes about stuff the kid should be thinking about.

Mechanics, while important, aren't what makes a better than average QB. We need someone who has a plan, and can coach the QB to read defenses and execute within that plan.
this is correct. We've seen MANY QBs with less than perfect mechanics become great QBs.

There's SO MUCH MORE to being an effective QB than just mechanics.

Also, mechanics tend to go out the window when you’re under pressure and don’t know what the duck to do.

Exactly. Tebow instantly comes to mind. And remember when Scot Loeffler was going to improve his throwing motion his senior year? That didn't really happen.

I'm not against Salisbury coming aboard, but I'm not convinced he'll drastically improve the results on the field.

People need to realize E is not leaving, rightly or wrongly. There is an argument to be made for continuity, I’m not sure a 4th OC in 4 years is the answer, especially with so much coming back next year.

There is something to be said for continuity, but when it means continuing a scheme that got us the 104th-ranked offense, changes need to be made. Orgeron's not fooling anybody. He's doing everything he can to avoid having to fire or demote Ensminger, because having to do so would mean that he made a mistake in promoting him to begin with.

Sean Salisbury
may or may not be able to coach QB's but what I keep wondering is if this guy is so good of a QB coach why hasn't any else hired him? Why do we not hear about other programs showing interest in him? I have seen numerous comments about LSU's route tree being outdated. I don't claim to know anything about this. I have not paid close attention to the WR routes as a whole. But I do know the receivers very seldom get any separation. I don't know what can be done about the dropped passes other than just trying to work threw it and practice. The biggest issue IMO is it seems nearly all of the pass plays are slow developing.

Well, he got fired from ESPN for showing co-workers pictures of his dick. Then he tried suing Deadspin for reporting the story, claiming it was untrue. Then he admitted he did show co-workers pictures of his dick. Then he locked himself in his apartment for a couple of years and suffered from depression. Then he tried pursuing more media hosting gigs which he couldn't keep.

Basically, he's been too busy to coach.

I really don’t know diddly squat about QBs. How do you guys feel about his instruction?

Rather see Burrow work with a well-known and established coach. like Tom Brady's QB coach, Adam Dedeaux (also coaches Matt Ryan).

Brady and Ryan work with Dedeaux a few days before and after the season. Same way Brady worked with Martinez before he died in about 2013.

The worst thing possible is a QB coach who over-burdens a QB with a bunch of crap that screws up a QB's confidence.

Yeah. I'm really not sure why people are excited about this. I hope he's only coming in as an analyst. That's what Orgeron wanted hire him for last year but he had some kind of conflict (I assume due to his private coaching).

Why do people assume he's going to be a great QB coach or some innovative offensive/passing game coordinator?

100% agree. Before Loeffler, Tebow had a half-dozen unconventional deliveries. Loeffler convinced TT to throw only from behind the ear - old school mechanics.

Tebow (before Loeffler) had a side-arm slinger (almost underhand) that was nearly impossible for the DB's to see until it hit the receiver. (usually out to the flat) Very accurate and split-second release. Loeffler killed that.

I heard one of his QB Mechanics will be "How to text dickpics without getting fired". It's really can't-miss instruction.

No. It wasn't pussy pics. It was dick pics. You need to get it straight.

I think they get too caught up in him being a former NFL QB. Nevermind that current recruits weren't even born when he last played. They might've been in kindergarten when he was berating John Clayton and saying "like shooting fish in a barrel" on ESPN.

Okay, he's been an instructor, but never held an actual coaching position before. There's really no frame of relevant experience for him to get a job at LSU now, other than he used to play two decades ago.

I'm not even saying he would definitely be a bad hire, but frankly, it would be even more of a head-scratcher than Ensminger. At least E was on staff, recruited, and had called plays before.

Is this referenced in the Binders? They are the path to LSU championship football you know.

I really don't know the back story on this but I think it's pretty funny to hold that against anyone in today's day and age.

In today's day and age of the #metoo movement, the likelihood of people holding it against him is probably much greater than when he actually did it.

Anyway, I don't think anyone here would hold it against him. Showing dick pics to a co-worker as a "joke" is still hilariously stupid though.

he has said he wants to be at lsu which gets everyone here fired up.

he has no business being on this staff in any capacity. has no experience at all, just sat on the bench in the nfl for a 7-8 years. so did matt flynn, who cares.

he has no ties to lsu or reason to want to caoch here other than being buddies with coach O. this guy just wants a job that isnt sports radio. he has also said he is extremely interested in the recently open QB coaching job at USC, where he actually played. if he was qualified, seems like a no brainer for him to work at usc.
