is no Bobby Murcer. Max is a quitter who left LSU for a rival,

Sucks he went to a rival but a kid wanting to play leaves so he can start somewhere?

He wasn't going to start or even be qb2 here moat likely.

Kid only has so many years to play. If he could actually get on the field and play before his days are done I'm not faulting him for it.

Coach Fisher is feeling NIL pressure!

Putting ball (and Fisher’s neck) into the left hand of the guy who sealed 8-4 fate in 2021.

Nice

Johnson will be replacing King for the starting job and will be bringing a smart pocket presence, great vision and experience to the maroon and white offense.

He didn't leave to try to fight for playing time somewhere else. He left because his brother wanted to go to A&M.

Wish we had him now instead of a track star.

If Jimbo can teach him pocket presence, I think Max can be a good QB. I just don't think that many guys figure out how to move in the pocket with their eyes down field once they've lost it.

He'll likely do well in spots and revert back to freaking out in the pocket when he feels pressure or gets hit.

King has thrown 6 picks and probably another 10 that should have been intercepted in his 6 career games.

It's even worse when you consider the level of competition King has played in his 6 career games.

South Carolina
Alabama
Colorado
Kent State
Sam Houston State
App State

King is bad.

If he's given the job and reps he'll get rid of the ball faster. He's still a young qb. Like someone else said..... play well but get the L.

flail around yet somehow be serviceable out there.

This is the best analysis of Max Johnson I've ever read. So accurate.

Yall can hate on max but he wasn't a terrible qb. He had an awful playcaller last year and a bad oline and lost his best wr midway through the season. Did all of that make him gunshy at times? Of course.

Max sucks, he would be at best 3rd string here.

He was starting over our current 2nd string guy last year

Poor guy jumped out of the pot and into the fire...right before the pot got taken out of the fire.

funny enough, I think max would’ve done well in denbrocks offense. high floor, low ceiling type of thing.

He is essentially like his father was as a player. A guy that is good enough to win you games when the team has other solid pieces around him. But not necessarily a guy who is going to elevate the team if the surrounding parts aren't great.

The bigger issue he faces is that Jimbo's outdated offense is a QB killer. Outside of Winston for two years, no QB has had good success under Jimbo since 2014. Jimbo is incredibly demanding of his QBs....yet, he fails to consistently put them in a position to have success.

Jimbo has become the SEC's new Les Miles. He wins more than he loses. But his ability to succeed at a championship level is capped because he flat out refuses to change an offensive approach that EVERYONE can see is outdated
