Interesting because in that position you’d expect coaches to showcase their skills and shine for potential employment. I’m old fashioned I guess.

Do you blame them? The writing was on the wall.

EDIT:
They definitely showed willpower to finish out the season with not only a comeback win but with a huge game against the #2 team in the country on the road. Doesn't look like they were checked out with the players, but definitely checked out with the university.

I’m not surprised that the coaches were looking for jobs after O was canned but to admit they checked out isn’t fair to the kids or LSU. At least Andre Carter and Blake Baker showed some character and were still out recruiting

A mullet from Croaker’s fishing hole!!! Orgeron did not fool, even the mullets!!!

A lot of incompetence, take paycheck and keep grinning and bug-eyed! But Muscovy Duck Moscona wanted us to admire his « whiskey connoisseurship », what an idiot, trying to sell Sazerac…LOL

Without listening to his exact words and reading what you posted as the quote, interested strategy by DJ to essentially say he quit working hard once Ed O was done. You’d think someone would show more pride making over $1mm and trying to showcase for another job.

Whether you checked out or not, probably not something you want to put down as a quote

So the team played their best ball once the coaches checked out?
If that’s not an indictment of Ed and his staff, I don’t know what is.

Jones didn’t say he checked out. Mentions he was still recruiting but mentioned “others”

That still doesn't look good. Looks like he was trying to put the shine on him by ratting on his co-workers. Typical suck arse we have all seen them in the work world.

Daronte is a very well spoken guy. Seems like a great guy too. Hopes he gets another big opportunity somewhere

I listened to the entire interview, he never said anyone checked out.

He basically said guys got worried and distracted after O was fired and some started to try to check into other jobs.

Said everyone was able to reset and get refocused during the bye week.

He also mentioned that the team had a bit of a regroup/refocus during the bye. I think that was pretty apparent. I'm sure a couple of guys stayed checked out but I believe him when he says they refocused and came together again.

He didn't say his focus changed. He said other coaches focus changed. And you can argue that his defenses improved after Coach O was let go.

He didn't say that. What he said is that the staff was reeling when they heard the news, mentioned that a lot of them were thinking about getting another job (reasonable) but mentioned that the bye week gave everyone a chance to refocus.

Jones comes out looking good in this interview. The biggest problem I have with him is that he never expressed that he understood that the success he had was a result of getting aggressive. He mentioned why they didn't think they needed to be aggressive with their personnel...but never concluded that we would have been a better defense had we been aggressive with our best personnel.

He probably would have figured it out if he had more time. But, his inexperience as DC in college played a part in the problems this year.

"after"... It didn't seem like they were "checked in" to start with!

Did he talk about his experience forgetting what a blitz was for the first 8 weeks of the season?

So he should lie and protect coaches who didn't put in the work? Yeah, frick them and every player that "checked out" too.

Yep....I was going to write something similar after listening to the interview. Specifically, he mentioned that it was hard to get the players focused for the Ole Miss game. But he gave no indication that the coaches "checked out" after O was fired.
