But what if you knew that, per Pro Football Focus, Florida State forced 34 missed tackles?

Maason Smith won't miss!

I think their #1 guy is legit good. He showed it last year consistently.

No doubt the FSU RBs are talented but you can hardly take anything away from that game.

It was raining pretty good which made them slick but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think those backs will give us some fits if we don’t tackle well, play assignment football, or dominate the LOS. This game will be a large tackling feat for this team so early in the season. Last two years we have been awful tackling team, I’m hoping all that has changed.

Absolutely! From the Spring game to all the practice reports, what's the one thing that was seen/mentioned when the offense was successful? Runs right up the middle.

Have these people actually looked at the DL and LBs Duquesne put on the field Saturday?

If it's true what was reported that their DL averaged 240 and their LBers 200ish then I'd say huge advantage us. I also heard that they don't have one scholarship player on their team. That Duquesne doesn't offer scholarships for football.

Someone posted their lineman were bigger on average than ours. There's no way this is true. No doubt they are lying on their website. Some of their lineman looked like they weighed 200lbs.

Let’s hope our DB’s will be physical, come up and lay the wood.

The FSU RB that I'm most worried about is Trey Benson.

100%. That is clearly their best back and will be an NFL starter one day I think. He had size, speed, and power.

Comparing how TCU did vs Duquesne last year to FSU this year.

TCU had 178 yards on 38 rushing attempts 4.7 YPC
FSU had 406 yards on 54 rushing attempts 7.5 YPC

TCU had 434 total yards
FSU had 638 total yards

FSU has played plenty of cupcakes in program history, never have we had 3 different 100+ yard rushers (and halfway to a 4th).

Jordan Travis had 103 passer rating and was efficient. His running ability will show more against LSU as he will be asked to run the ball more and the astro turf will only help with speed for these guys, not slow them down.

It is going go be a great game. Like it or not this game will be close, a battle, a back and forth. This team has a lot of fight and has bought in fully to the team and coaches. Expect to see the team that took #8 ND to OT last year, but only better.

Make no mistake, this will be a war on the field. Those that are discounting FSU (and any FSU fans discounting LSU) will all be mistaken.

I'd have tempered excitement after that last game. That win doesn't amount to much of a measuring stick when considering who you both played. You both beat a low-level FCS team by 40pts that went (7-3) in 2021 with wins over teams with a combined W/L of (23-54) while playing in the second weakest conference in Division 1 FCS:

Ohio U. (3-9)
Virginia U. of Lynchburg (2-9)
Merrimack (5-6)
Bryant (7-4)
Long Island U.(2-8)
Central Connecticut (4-7)
Wagner (0-11)

Outside of Ohio, Duquesne's wins were against not even Southland Conference FCS level competition. Your school will be taking a massive step up in competition this weekend.

In my “film study” I counted 27 missed tackles. Guess I was a little bit off. Or maybe because I stopped in the 4th because watching backups got really boring. Starting running back can definitely make you miss. But I can assure you most of the missed tackles I counted was because Duquesne players were just too slow and unathletic. At lot of the missed tackles came when the oline was stalemated or pushed back and RBs had to bounce outside. Duquesne just doesn’t have the athletes to catch them at that point.

Got to ask why were they forced to make Duquesne miss 34 tackles?

Which means they were in position, unblocked, to make a lot of plays but were physically incapable of making them.

My son played at Memphis under Mike Norvell and he thinks very highly of him. He says LSU will be in for a very good fight. He said underestimating Norvell and FSU would be a mistake .

The fact that they got 406 yards on the ground does concern me even if it is a mid FCS

You know what...that data tells you just how bad the Dukes really are...not how good FSU backs mite be...when your facing running backs as big as your linemean...well you're gonna get your arse kicked.
