First Year LSU Stats - Burrow, Daniels, Leavitt

He needs to settle down. Dude is going 1,000mph at the snap.

I think the main thing about Leavitt is we didn't think he would be another 2 year project.
That was obviously false. It would be best for him to wait to leave after this year looking at it now. He's not a top 10 QB in this class which is absolutely loaded with talent, but who knows if he's a money chaser or if he came to LSU because of Lane.

I’ll give Leavitt some leeway, the dude was injured all of spring ball and learning a new offense. Both take time.
Anybody who was expecting him to come out and look like Trinidad off the bat was delusional. Everybody on the offense outside of TDGreen was brand new as well

Everything wrong with Leavitt is fixable, that is the good thing.
When he isn't bailing on the play early, he is making good decisions.
His accuracy is off because he is rushing and throwing off platform, and he hasn't had time to build chemistry with his recievers yet.
The tipped passes are a combination of bad luck and low release. One is bad luck, the other is coachable.
His recievers aren't giving him any help with the drops. They can barely catch balls that hit them in their numbers.

If Leavitt continues to struggle in the passing game I can’t imagine they’d want him back

With the way he's played up to this point, he could make more money going back to LSU rather than being a late round pick and not getting much money (in NFL terms).
Of course, it's still early and things can change. I think we'll know better what kind of QB he can be in the SEC later on in the year. Him missing spring really hurt.

I’d be interested to what Dart’s numbers looked like early on.
This was also the most hostile environment he’s ever been in, so might have been pressing early. Still missed some stuff in the 2H but got better. Maybe the bar got too high after the Clemson game, with so many new pieces and a new scheme, we were kidding ourselves into thinking there’d be no growing pains.
The offense has issues but it’s not like last season where we were at this point it was obvious the core was bad and all we could do was hope for martial improvement.

Clearly, Leavitt is missing "wide open guys" at a much higher rate than Burrow or Daniels did in their first LSU season, right?
Of course, you could consider that Leavitt missed practice last Wednesday. It might have affected his timing, mechanics, confidence, . . .
And, of course, Leavitt can't get better. QBs never get better, right? Burrow and Daniels, they never got better, right?
