There was a point Saturday I could tell when the former QB in Herbie was coming out and he was pleading for Leavitt to hold on longer on some of those plays.

And none of that disproves that people can improve at those things.

Yeah, he was spooked. He was getting A/B gap pressure because of our LG from the first snap. When he had time he was still playing too fast. The throws were there, we weren't getting wide open recievers all night, but ghey were getting open. When he was hitting them in stride we were dropping balls.

What kind of NIL money does a Heisman contender QB go for?
I would have thought 4.5M would get a team one.

This dude is horrible ROI. He's bending LSU over. For that money go get a way better QB like Miss State's QB who SL is making like 5x the amount. F that. For the money LSU pays we don't have to wait around and hope he gets better we can get someone we KNOW will be good immediately. Remember he wasn't Lane's first choice. He actually missed on a few.

Players Improve. I'm confident in our offensive staff to help develop Sam's footwork, timing, and post snap reads. He will improve.

People keep saying this and yeah, he can improve areas like this easily or chemistry with his WRs due to his limited practices. He's not going to improve the ability to go through progressions, stop locking on to WRs, and getting tunnel vision when his first read isn't there. He's a 4 year player if he doesn't have this by now he's probably never getting that.
LSU is paying this guy top money. I can name you 10 QBs right now who make half that would probably be at LSU's doorstep immediately if they offered his salary to them. We should look elsewhere at the end of this season unless he shows massive improvement for that money.

That isn't true lmfao. That is something Jayden struggled with.

Wrong. Jayden had no problem going through progressions at LSU ever. That was not his problem his first year. In fact, Jayden showed every sign of being a potential superstar. He had accuracy, he read defenses well, he went through progressions, etc. His issue was CONFIDENCE. It was not because he lacked ability to go through progressions. He'd stare at it all day but would be scared to throw the ball until eventually he said f it and the light came on finally for him like the Florida game.
SL's problems would take more than this season to fix and LSU doesn't have the luxury of being patient with a player like this for the money they're paying him. Sorry but it's true. I like the guy's grit and toughness he's not a 5 million+ QB. He's bending us over. Do you really think LSU can't offer 5-6 million+ to someone way better than SL at the end of this season?

Now do sacks for Daniels who notoriously held the ball too long and it wasn’t the Oline. It was him refusing to throw into coverage.
Now do potential HoF receivers both Daniels and Burrow had to throw to.
Now do drops by these receivers.
Stupid for such a small sample size.
Daniels was not really good year 1. Burrow had a limited offense

That is a freaking shite memory.
He held the ball far too liming as evidenced by his 40 sacks. He had serious issues until Kelly threatened to bench him before Mississippi st year 2. He wouldn’t throw to all world WR in coverage and let them get it.
Funny thing about Burrow and Daniels
Chase
Jefferson
Marshall
CEH
Thomas Jr
Nabers
Taylor

2 years yes but wouldn’t be surprised at all if Lane moves on if we end up losing 4.

Holding the ball too long doesn't mean he had problems going through his progressions and locking on to WRs like SL does. He was scared shitless to throw the ball. He'd literally be staring at it all game and you could easily see him going through progressions. It use to drive me mad. It was like the game was too fast for him. You need to go back and watch his games again. He had practically every attribute you want in a QB even when he was playing bad EXCEPT throwing the damn ball when it was open.
Pretty much anyone with eyes could see his entire issue was CONFIDENCE. You can easily put his game film on at ASU and see the same thing from him he actually processed information well and threw beautiful balls he just lacked confidence for some bizarre reason. Eventually he started trusting his ability and that's when the light came on. That was why he barely ever turned the ball over before the light came on he was scared.

The offense has issues but it’s not like last season
Having a QB with some level of mobility is definitely a necessity. Under Kiffin, this will not be an issue.
The concern I have thus far isn't the accuracy one, because the more mobile he is, the lanes will be wide open. The problem is intermediate passes in the pocket. He seems to not have that peripheral vision that would keep him from noticing when there is something between his hand and his target.
And there is the accuracy problem too. That 3rd and long miss without his feet set in the pocket along with that miss at the goal line.

Jayden and Sam's issues are not the exact same but Jayden was not someone who was a rock start at his progressions. His timing and his progressions were off which is why he got into the VR to help with that. '23 against FSU he made correct reads and did well going through his progressions but wasn't delivering good balls.
Sam's issues all stem from him being sped up. But that is NOT something that cannot be fixed or improved.

Since you mentioned Burrow..My question is ,what has happened to throwing the receiver open?

He will really have to improve in all phases of QBing to improve his draft stock. After 3 games he will be back next season.
