I know right!! Lol at Jimbo who never won anything without a generational Heisman QB making that kind of money!!
Oh wait....

No need to do that, you covered it when you said
"was one of the lowest paid coaches in CFB."

So we were busy extending O instead of addressing our assistant needs. Nice. One team one heartbeat

He would have stayed for 5 million . I have always liked the hire of Coach O but that is crazy money. Heck 5 million a year is a lot of money.

You said he was one of the lowest paid coaches in CFB then only listed 25 schools that were higher than him. If you wanted to try to prove your point, just list where he ranks.

why do you continue to compare contracts not directly after national championship seasons?

He earned it but I don't want to hear LSU poor mouth assistant hires because of what they are paying the HC.

I can't believe we have fans melting about giving a raise to the coach that just led us to the best season in college football history.

Dude just orchestrated the greatest season in the history of college football and people are on here complaining about the buy-out. Remind you that it was Ed who brought in Joe Burrow, Joe Brady, and recruited the vast majority of the roster that made all of that happen. He reached the pinnacle of college football and exceeded everyone’s expectations, and meltdown over the buyout is the topic of discussion. Unbelievable.

Hopefully this doesn’t break the model of paying him less so we can pay out the arse for top staff, i.e. the Binder model.
seems to me the biggest difference this year was a young passing game coordinator...how much did he make

You don't think that is somewhat important?
There isn't an LSU football fan alive that hopes things go south. But in such a volatile profession. One where LSU fans (whether fair or not) aren't now going to accept 9-3 seasons after seeing the team reach the pinnacle of the sport. I'd think the school (and any school for that matter) would like to leave themselves a buffer to parachute out of the deal if it became necessary. No one is saying O didn't earn a pay increase after this season. But it also was unlikely any other school was going to pose a serious threat to take him from LSU (serious threat being a school who has the resources to match/outbid LSU and resources to win at a high level).
Baseball season is about to start. Along with it the inevitable "fire Paul" posts. That would be fine except Paul is one of the highest paid coaches in college baseball and his contract (extended by 4 years in 2016) is locked in until 2024. Relative to the college baseball world, LSU would have to eat a significant amount of money to get rid of him after this season (if they felt it was necessary).
Again, NO ONE is saying O hasn't earned a pay increase or even an extension. But if you can (and hopefully LSU did), leave yourself a little wiggle room "just in case".

I don’t give a frick about being called out for shite. The bottom line is O deserved it but he’s not going anywhere. Task priorities here. We still don’t know what our offense or defense will look like. And I do own a business. So sorry to hear you are too much of a pussy to take the risk needed getting a business going. Congrats on being your bosses bitch

Anyone with anything negative about this situation can kick rocks. He took on his bs salary and got us a championship in a few years. His new DC does not need to make as much as Aranda.
The man sacrificed a lot to get us here and 7 mil a year for what we have earned due to his championship team is nothing. I believe in him to succeed and he is not going anywhere so fck a buyout.

Earned while cheerfully ignoring one insult and roll of the eyes after another. Not only is he a winner, and now a RICH winner, he does it while not giving a single frick. This is a man achieving self-actualization.

No, I believe you. I really do. Because any competent business owner would have absolutely made that very astute observation that you stated.
But keep fighting the good fight, bruh!

Everyone praising this needs to stop and look at the kind of ridiculous people you are aligning with.
That’s usually a pretty good sign you might need to take a step back and reevaluate your position.
Sacrificed a lot
