Yep. ND/Big10 peeps justdon't get the SEC. They just don't get it. They're too cerebral. Like asking Electrical Engineers to fight hand-to-hand combat.

Coaches come from everywhere. There are only so many DCs with years of SEC experience around. And running a defense is more cerebral than it ever used to be. You can’t just beat your opponent into submission anymore. Offenses are too dynamic, they can field more high level athletes than ever and the rules favor them. The days of being able to play man and tee off on everyone are over.

With the 12 and soon to be 14 team playoff the expectation is to make it every year.

I think we likely take a step back on offense and a bit of a step forward on defense but have a similar season to last year. Hopefully setting pieces in place for a legit run in year 4 and 5.

this one is going to be a good one. they are going to be good. i know i know, but lane, but ole miss, but little brother, but but but........but they are going to be loaded. they can be dangerous this year.

my only concern isn't about brian kelly as much, as the dept of the defense. whatever he did with this offensive staff, we are loading up and loading up. for some reason, the defense, likely due to house & co., has not been up to the same speed........when this staff gets the defense rolling, my expectations of kelly will be very high....this year, make the playoffs high.

I think 9-3 and a playoff birth. As another poster said please for the love of God beat USCw, Ole Miss, and A&M. Also we owe Arkansas a fricking arse kicking I’m so tired of having to sweat it out against their horrendous teams every year. That being said I hate playing Arky and A&M back to back on the road.

Can you imagine this home schedule plus a game at home in the playoffs? I can.

I’m going to say 8-4/9-3. You’re replacing a heisman qb, so the offensive production will come down some. I think the D will be a little better. Just not enough for the team to have a better record than last season. Every position group has to at the very least, be competitive.

As of now that’s how I feel. Can change depending on what we do in the portal. If you’d have asked me in ‘22 what I’d expect from a year 3 Brian Kelly coached football team, I would have expected a top 4 team in the nation. It just hasn’t worked out that way yet

11 wins bare minimum

The only remotely acceptable teams to lose to are Bama or Oklahoma. Absolutely unacceptable to lose another week 1 game.

Just look at the schedule it’s very favorable. 3 toughest conference games are at home. The only road environment that might be tough is Florida but the team they have is bad.

Not if 3 losses are to
UCLA
A&M
Florida

No overcoming that

9-3 I could be content with depending on who the three losses where to and how we lost, and if I see the potential for the next year with playing tons of young guys, like ending season with a win streak type thing

He is the 8th highest paid coach. The list is below of the top 10. The bold have been at their job for as long or longer than Kelly, those in Itallics have won a natty. #1 hasn't won a natty since 2018.

1) Dabo Swinney, Clemson Tigers: $11.5 million

2) Kirby Smart, Georgia Bulldogs: $11.25 million

FYI the italics didn't go thru so FIFY

Yr coach list helps to temper quell the sky-high expectations of winning a Natty this season - only the first 2 coaches in the top 10 paid here have won a Natty

I'd like to see:
Getting to the playoffs and winning at least 1
Wins over USC + UCLA + OK + Bama + A&M

Plus:
Top 30 offense
Nuss 38 or more TDs and 11 or less INTs
3 WRs on Biletnikoff Watch List and 2 WRs as Biletnikoff Semifinalists
OL again as Joe Moore Award finalists or winners
Top 50 defense
Defense has 20 INTs (LSU had 10 last season and 17 in 2019)
Actual pass rush--with more TFLs + sacks than each of the past 3 yrs
Sage Ryan demonstrating he's worthy of the 5-star rating
Harold Perkins returning to wrecking ball and All-American status
3 players on the SEC All-Freshman Team (Caden Durham + 2 others)

Call these "stretch goals" but hey you asked!
