In the last 20 years LSU is the 2nd most successful College Football Program after only Alabama. Some of you are either not LSU fans or are just stupid. Lol.

Exactly. So why would LSU hire the head coach of a lower mid level team that plays in a lower mid level conference and has a history of being blown away when it plays its 1 or 2 big time money games a year i.e. Texas etc. Not to mention a home field attendance average of less than 17,000?
Makes zero sense!

Can you provide more info? Is this a message board myth or do you have details about the setting in which these comments were made ?

While I wouldn’t put anything past the leadership at LSU, I have to laugh at the idea that Bama is going to turn their restored football program over to a Sun Belt coach

Napier is a good coach, but he won’t be the top candidate.

Just curious about the belief that he’s waiting for those jobs stated. I’ve read that several times on this board and wondering where that idea originated. Seems like something someone just said and everyone runs with it.

My view is that all of the replace Orgeron talk is media or fan driven. I do not believe LSU has an active coach search going on or that plans are in place to replace Orgeron.

That does not mean that Woodward is not evaluating his options and making his own list. I think that thought process is probably in motion. And I think its probably true Woodward is not an Orgeron fan. Most ADs in the SEC are judged by their football coach hire and I do think there is some number of losses that he has in mind he would need to approach the board about a new hire.

If LSU loses to State and then Auburn, then I think a real dialogue ensues.

If LSU beats State and Auburn, the talk dies down a bit.

Orgeron's job depends on the season. I hate to say it, but if he goes 5-3 in the SEC and 8-4 overall, I think that will save his job.

I have no inside info, just a long time LSU fan who has seen these things play out many times. LSU does not have the billionaire alums or board members some other schools have. The money to buy Orgeron and his staff out and to pay a new hire is problematic for Woodward, not impossible though.

Campbell has passed on NFL HC job offers. Fickell. Peterson. Fleck. Cristobal.

Who exactly would you be shooting for to avoid "serious problems"

Napier would be an upgrade from O.

Anybody would be an upgrade over Orgeron. There are a handful of high school HC's in Texas that would be an upgrade over Orgeron.

I guess it’s an upgrade to hiring a Defensive Line Coach…

Don't necessarily disagree with this statement. Who would you put on that list that would be considered swinging for the fences other than Urban Meyer?

How did you quote me and still quote me wrong in your post

I said questions not problems

If you think Napier is anywhere near the caliber of a hire as Chris Peterson or Jimbo Fisher then I’m not going to engage you. There’s simply no hope for you

Jay Johnson was not one of big fish candidates that everyone was screaming for in baseball but looks to be a good fit. He’ll do what’s best not what’s most popular for LSU

Napier would probably be the 6th choice for LSU if an opening really happened. Summing up…Napier will never be head football coach at LSU.

Peetz and company look like coaching frauds not even on D2 level let alone a supposed too 10 program

Peetz is a fraud! Its like teaching a 10 year old to call plays! What f’ing idiot would hire him as OC with no play calling experience.Pisses me the F off! I recall all the past post of how great he’d be…AND HE SUCKS!

I wanted to keep Callaway all along. I’ve seen him coach and play calls + recruit! The QBs respected him. Shite, dude! We would’ve been so much better off! —-and E might’ve stuck around. E and Callaway together could have taken this team to a championship!
