Baloo, I'm agreeing with you that by all dispassionate analysis, LSU deserves to be treated as the No. 3 team out of the SEC.

My point is that's not how bowls work. You're complaining that they didn't pick your team based on your criteria. They were picking based on theirs which is primarily this:

What will make us the most money?

Outside of the noted exception of the Outback Bowl -- which had other reasons explained earlier for taking South Carolina -- every bowl behaved exactly the way one would expect it too given their purpose.

So why not take LSU in the Outback if they pick before the Peach? Let the chips fall where they may and let the Peach have to deal with it.

Silly me I thought the bowl games were based on merit, and they are a reward for accomplishments on the field. LSU didn't earn the right to play the best opponent possible, Oklahoma, just the opponent most convenient for the SEC.

Colleges get to plan their schedules every year. They play the opponents they want to. Only in the bowl games can they be compelled to play someone they wouldn't schedule otherwise. Well LSU isn't going to be scheduling Michigan any time soon, because neither is going to give up the money from a home game, so this was possibly a once in a generation opportunity for those two schools to meet. Something for LSU players and fans to really look forward to. Not going to happen because the SEC can't let South Carolina play the school they deserve to play.

The SEC tells LSU here's a shite sandwiuch for you and your fans. Why don't you eat it for the sake of the conference? Oh, and by the way, about that tradition of home games at night. You'd better just go with TBA for game time from now on. We'll let you know when you can play.

The SEC simply wasn't going to put the Chick-fil-A in position to have a Clemson-SC rematch.

Well send someone else to the Peach bowl so Clemson/USC don't have to play again. Moreover, we had a rematch in our "bowl" last year.
What people are conveniently forgetting regarding our rematch- LSU was extremely dominant last year, and so was Bama. They did play, to a tight, overtime finish. It was widely assumed that no other team would stay within 30 points of us besides Bama, and the only close game had was their loss to us. That led to ... a rematch.

Clemson-South Carolina; different circumstances. They are not the top 2 teams, so they aren't compelled to face each other. Their game was the last game each played, so getting 40 days to see the same team you just saw... borders on a punishment, not a reward. Besides, South Carolina played on the road with their backup QB, who ended up throwing for over 300 yds. So to place the rematch at a neutral field, and let South Carolina get their starter back- not a lot of drama. Instead, it would favor the Cocks even more.

LSU can do something about it's future bowl appearances, by continuing to support the team regardless of who/where. If our fanbase comes across as indifferent and dead, it's going to do nothing but further taint us in future considerations

If you want to whine about anything, whine about the fact that the team let two winnable games slip out of their hands and played like garbage at the end of the year, leaving an unfavorable impression on bowl committees.

Not to mention not being able to put away lesser teams until the 4Q early in the season. LSU wins games and drops in the polls.

But hey LSU won 10 games and Miles got his raise and extension.

I agree with this statement. Slive (the SEC) continues to screw LSU time after time. LSU and fans need to start protesting this loudly.

Make no mistake about this, Bama is behind all of it.

We travel better than anyone (except maybe A&M) and we get better TV ratings than any other team in the SEC.

So, LSU is the best choice on the money-making criteria as well.

So every other team gets a reward and LSU gets punished. LSU beats TAMU but it would be a punishment to send Johnny football to the Peach reward them with the cotton. It would be a punishment for mentally weak Mark Richt and UGA to drop far-Go to the Cap 1. It would be a punishment to send USC to the peach to play Clemson-send them to outback. It would be a punishment and slap in the face to send LSU to a bowl of a lower slot than two teams they beat-oh well. It would be a punishment to give LSU USC and UGA and Bama Mizzou and UK-oh well. It would be a punishment to send LSU to the peach when its players weathered the largest national disaster in our time in their home state affecting their own families-oh well.

I think we should allow someone less fortunate to attend the Chicken Bowl in our stead, as befits the Holiday Season.

Hell we could do 2 things here, we can either just beat the living shite out of Clemson, or give La Tech our spot in the bowl game, I'm good with either one.

Exactly. I'd love it if we didn't wear any silly "SEC" patch on the jersey. What on earth has the SEC done for LSU in the Slive regime?

'09 SEC Champs in hoops and he's on the selection committee. "Most influential man in college sports", yea he's not in the room when LSU is called, blah, blah, but we get seeded 8th in Greensboro and play UNC ?

Don't forget refgate, apology gate in '09. Arkanas gets an apology in the Fl game, Ga gets one after the LSU game. Peterson's int vs Alabama ? Tough.

This is one of the many threads making us LSU fans seem like a bunch of whiney bitches. If we would have played better, we would be in a better bowl game.

Someone should ask Slive if he would swear on the good book that he was for LSU when they played Ohio State.
