They don't even have to win at this point, I just want to see them be competitive in the games.

The problem is we’re not rebuilding from a program that hit bottom. The program was already going in the right direction and our administration decided to blow it up. Yeah, I get it, Will Wade was stupid, but quite frankly I don’t give a shite. There are other coaches still working that were equally as stupid.

I agree. If we can just see Reed, Ward, and Phillips grow into decent SEC players this year that will go a long way. Can we see a few double digit scoring nights from Reed and Ward and some shot blocking, rebounding, and a few dunks from Phillips?

Adam needs to try to drive to the goal to get in some type of rhythm before shooting 3's

It drives me crazy that he won't drive to the hoop.
He draws fouls pretty well, and finishes ok when he gets there.
It seems like I've seen him drive to the goal once maybe twice total over the course of the last three games.

MM will succeed or fail in short order. There is no secret …. Can he recruit and hit the portal more effectively than the competition or not.

The fans are spoiled from BKs first year and it’s causing them to think basketball was gonna be the same thing .

KM did the same thing in year 1 with the women. Why shouldn’t expect the same from McMahon? If he is as good a coach as BK and KM he should be able to duplicate the success quickly. There really are no excuses and starting with no players. He hand picked players from the portal he thought could help him win in the SEC, he got it wrong with some of these guys or his scheme isn’t up to what the SEC brings every night.

I like McMahon, but I would like to see a little more passion/fire from him on the bench. Maybe that's not who he is, but it does concern me (at least for teams that are not as talented and need more of that).

It is too early to judge. I think he did a very good job of putting together what appeared to be a pretty decent roster considering the mess he walked into. The lack of any noticeable progress has been the disappointing thing. I just hope they can improve some. I do like Miller's spirit though and he does play hard.

The problem is ALL of the players have been playing for years, should be at the top of their game, but they look a bunch of tall dudes picked out of the band and just started playing this year. So the fact is if you cant shoot worth a shite after years of playing what makes anyone think something is gonna change?

That comparison is only fair if they'd hired Scott Drew. McMahon has to have a chance to build something. I don't know if he's good enough or not yet, but we shouldn't have expected Kim Mulkey results right away.

With the turnover in basketball, every year is year 1. No good this year? Shut it down and wait for next year's all new lineup. Rinse, repeat.

Nope.

LSU's situation was way worse than that. Most teams, even those that get a ton of 1-and-done guys every year, will return at least about 5-6 guys who at least practiced together the year before. They may not be the guys getting on the court, but they know each other and what to expect in day-to-day stuff. Those guys help carry over the team culture from year to year.

This season, we had 3 guys who were at LSU last year (Miller, Wilkinson and Justice Williams), and 3 together at Murray State (KJ, Hannibal, and Justice Hill).
The bulk of team continuity is coming from those two groups right now. One group knows life on this campus, the other knows the coach.

Next year, we probably have 6-8 guys who know both.

I just worry that with the new coaching staff and mostly new players that everyone wasn't warned to stay away from tigerdroppings and all of the unmoderated attacks on players you will find here.

The vitriol directed at this team is way off the charts at times.

Kansas St. has a new HC in his first HC job ever. The team returned TWO players from last year's team. There team this year has 11 new players. They are also leading the Big 12 (the toughest conference in CBB) and will be ranked in the top 10 in the next poll. Missouri returned 3 players for this years team. They are 14-4 (3-3) in SEC play.

This LSU roster isn't horrible (or at least it shouldn't be). That's not to say they should have ever been expected to compete at the top of the league with Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn. But they, despite having a 1st year HC who had never coached a major conference game in his life, were picked to finished 8th in the SEC. That was based both on perception of the coach and the roster. Right now LSU looks like one of the 3-4 worst teams in the league. In the predictive metrics, such as KenPom, which are incorporated into the NET formula because there are often a reliable measure of how good a team is, LSU is 13th out of 14 teams in the SEC. They are 11th in offensive efficiency and defensive efficiency...with both numbers continuing to plummet. Often times you see teams lower in the ratings who are good/pretty good at one area and awful at the other. Right now, LSU is almost equally as bad on both ends of the floor.

The staff is simply not getting the most out of this roster right now. Not even close. Even with the understanding that the "most" out of this roster is probably mid-tier SEC. That doesn't mean McMahon needs to be fired. But there is a world where people can both pull for McMahon to succeed AND recognize he's underachieving right now.

Mike White inherited the worst situation in the SEC. A 6-26 team who went 1-17 in SEC play with no talent and who’s best player is a transfer from fricking Bradley. But he’s 13-5 with a 3-2 SEC record in year 1 of that actual dumpster fire. Our guy has 6 top 100 recruits and an all-conf level player but is getting blown out by mid level opponents and can’t produce 50 points in modern college basketball. There’s no excuse for what’s happening.
