The thing people forget is every offseason he was here was all about him leaving. He finally did. It was almost a relief to cut the chord with him.

Gets easier with time. It's wild to speculate what he could have accomplished at LSU. It's also remarkable what LSU has accomplished over the last 23 years in spite of his tenure at Bama. LSU has been Bama's most consistent competitor in conference and their game of the year (ours too) for his entire tenure.

We still ended up in the NC conversation without him. When the pundits talk about nc capabilities, it's always bama, uga, osu and LSU - and sometimes Clemson and mich.

We want to beat him cause he's the best to ever do it and Bama is the measuring stick, not because he coached at LSU.

LSU will always hold a special place in his heart since he won his first National Championship here

i was.

after the game i went by locker room on east side with shite tons of dolphins fans who were getting autographs. except that was not my goal. i went to heckle saban and call him a fn sellout. and i did. and he heard me. i also told ricky williams to throw me a joint mocking him. a dolphin fan got mad at me for saying that and told me " dont tell ricky that or he wont come give me an autograph"

i had the cops laughing their asses off

Well that's just a straight up lie.

He returned to a heroes welcome in BR when the Saints hosted the Dolphins in Tiger Stadium in 2005.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted so much, this is 100% the truth

It definitely is. People were super disappointed he left for Miami, but there wasn’t overwhelming hatred toward him until he went to Bama.

Because so many want to revise history and act as if they turned on Saban the second he left LSU for some reason. I guess it adds to the mystique of the story, idk.

After he flirted with the Falcons in 2003, I think pretty much every LSU fan knew that Saban was on borrowed time in BR. Obviously we didn't like where it left us, but no sane person could fault him for leaving college for an NFL job, especially after Wayne gave him frick you money and frick you power to go to Miami.

In reality, the hate for him didn't start until he came back to college where we knew he was going to pick up where he left off at LSU and we had to play him every year.

Never disliked saban. Sure wish he hadn't gone to bama though

But had bama not skyrocketed in 2008 and started winning NCs, no one would care about this game. So, it's important because of both teams success.

I carry the bitterness like a papoose.

That Iowa loss was pathetic, apathetic. Then to go to our division rival (I don’t care that it wasn’t immediately—it was close enough) and bask in the cheating. F him and everything he stands for in life.

Any LSU fan that hates Saban has a skinny wiener. And calling him Nick Satan is stupid beyond comprehension.

No one really hates him. It’s a bit of “what could have been” more than anything. The reality is that Nick wanted to scratch the NFL itch and nothing was going to stop him from doing so. We had a chance to get him back at the end of 2007, but the cards didn’t fall right. If he doesn’t leave LSU, he would have won more here than Alabama. That is a fact.
