Always thankful for what he did for LSU and bummed about the lost opportunity to win even more.

The bitterness toward Saban preceded his ever arriving in Tuscaloosa. He jumped to the Dolphins after denying any interest, leaving us scrambling to find a coach in late December. But that was close to 20 years ago. After a while you let it go.

It also helps that we're approaching the time we'll see him in a chair on College Gameday instead of roaming the opposite sideline. Bama will get another good coach. But he won't be Saban.

Well that's just a straight up lie.

He returned to a heroes welcome in BR when the Saints hosted the Dolphins in Tiger Stadium in 2005.

I'll always be grateful for what he did while he was at LSU.

With that being said, he bailed on LSU on Christmas Day. That still doesn't sit well with me.

Goes to the pros, stinks it up there, gets an offer from Alabama, a team in the same conference, heck the same division as the team he formerly coached and takes it and goes on to be arguably the best coach ever.

If he had never gotten that NFL itch..... what could have been.

"Hate" is a strong word but I don't like the guy.

I wasn't there so I can't vouch for the reaction. I would note those were not necessarily LSU LSU ticketholders in attendance. But there was a lot of anger at the way he left. Did his going to a rival inflame it? Sure. But he left us behind the eight ball and a lot of fans were bitter about it already.

I hate to think how great LSU would have been with him and if the Tide were ever able to recover if he'd stayed at LSU.

Do I still hate him? Not really. He built a solid foundation that helped us carry two morons coaches to titles.

There was more purple and gold in stands than any other color that day.

It was also the largest attended of any Saints game in Tiger Stadium that year, by a lot.

The sound bite of him telling somebody he heard when he left LSU for the Dolphins that a LSU fan said “this feels like he fu**ed my wife” is really good. I hate that he left and he’s a MFer for it, but he still is the best to ever do it.

Eh I'm not so sure I'd consider an NFL game a good litmus for the LSU fanbase. Like everything people obviously has a variety of opinions at the time.

Trick question, I hated Bama when Nick Saban was an assistant coach at Syracuse.

Regardless of LSU, I find Saban to be pathetic. He has whined so much for someone who sure won a lot. Seems like or the past 5-7 years he was bitched about something in the offseason. I also don't like how he took up for his player after he hit a woman. Said his players were scared. Get real. That is no excuse. I'd like to hear him defend it if it had been his wife or daughter. Then he didn't even discipline the player, because he's afraid to lose.

Other than that I don't care.

He literally left lsu on Christmas. I mean come on. I’m glad he got us a ship but how can you leave on Christmas?

Nothing but respect for him, he is a great coach and did a lot for LSU. None of us can see the future when we make a decision and all decisions have both positive and negative consequences.

To sum it up easily, if you ain’t a Tiger, you’re Tiger bait!

Thanks for 2003 and turning the program into what many thought it could be. Eat a dick from 2005 to present.
