This is in no way an attempt at a flame.

Coworker is big Florida fan and he says Miles doesn't develop talent at all. LSU coworker chimes in and agrees with him. I don't have much defense here, but maybe a few offensive lineman. Argument is he doesn't touch the defense, so all credit goes to Chevis.

Need to hear some opinions on this matter.

We develop talent very well at all positions except QB and WR. Very rare do you see a QB or WR improve while at LSU. But, we have great coaches on the D side and a great OL coach. Les might not develop the talent, but he gets them here.

Nope. Not at all. Not sure exactly, but I think LSU is 1 or 2 with players on NFL rosters, but it was all due to Saban. In fact, LSU won the SEC last year with Saban's players.

Ask them if Urban Meyer gets credit for defensive players or is Saban gets credit for Trent Richardson?

The HC coach is responsible for bringing in all the players and coaches.

So they set ridiculous parameters to put you into an arguement you probably can't win? Got it.

First, your LSU coworker is a douche.

LSU has sent more players to the pros than UF recently

Okay... so the head coach doesn't get any credit for developing the defense, and only middling credit for developing a few offensive linemen?

Are you trying to make the Florida fan's argument for him?

Sorry, but Miles DOES get the credit for that. Head coach can't be held accountable for everything that goes wrong and nothing that goes right.

Tell your Florida fan he's full of shite.

Yes, just not too well with QB's.

Not flaming either.

This isn't true.

This staff develops every position but O Line. that is fact. Look at the NFL rosters for proof. There are WR's there; Doucet, LaFell, etc.

Offensive? Doesn't seem like we've been getting much development there past 4-5 years.

Defensive? Heck yes. But I credit that more to the defensive staff than Miles...most likely.

We've had talented QB's that didn't need developing.

Les didn't develop Jamarcus into 6'6 270 lbs.

He didn't teach him how to throw a ball 80 yards.

He's a GREAT coach and I wouldn't trade him for anyone, but we need to bring someone in to help out with our QB's.

We do develop QBs.... If you think JL wasn't leagues better in 2011 than 08-10 then you are insane. JJ was loads better as well.

It's not Les' fault he didn't have much to work with

4 years with shite at QB doesn't mean you cannot develop. Flynn will be starting in Seattle by mid year and JaMarcus may have been a bust, but he was the 1 overall pick.

WR: LaFell, Doucet, Randle, Bowe among other all played for CLM

RB: Ridley beast mode

the glaring weakness in terms of development is OL and TE.

What about the defensive players that made the NFL before Chavis was coaching here? Peveto/Mallory developed those guys?

Of course you get better when you get as much playing time as JL did.

After we kicked off RP, we had no other option. He progressed because he matured.

But with the amount of PT he received, he should have been in the Heisman running by the time his senior year came around.

Not to mention the talent he was surrounded with.
