I prefer a winner

I prefer a guy that's gonna win. I don’t care about anything else.

Regardless of who it is, nothing more than a 4 year contract to start. That may scare off big names, an I'm OK with that.
We are already funding the retirement of 3 different coaches. No need to make it four.

Lets give Sumral a shot at 1/10 the price.

My TAF contribution is the same regardless of whether LSU pays minimum wage or $20mil a year, so I don’t care what they spend.
I was a fan with Charley Mac as a freshman through Curly Hallman and will be if we hire Nick Saban or Farmer Fran.

Some big names are worth the price tag but are unattainable. Kiffin is not worth the money (which might be why he's attainable).
He's proven to not be a top 5 coach. Give me someone fresh who still has upside out there to prove they could be a top 5 coach

The top guys like Lane, Kirby, etc etc all cam from other staffs.
I would go get the best OC and DC in America, and bring in a motivator and great person, as HC

Younger head coaches and coordinators require effort and vetting. LSU is typically lazy at least for the last 2 hires anyway. You think our administration wants to put in the work to find that lesser name hire that will do well here?

Wow, I didn't he has been at Ole Miss for 6 seasons and has not won anything. He won't win NC there.

I’d prefer a young guy, but the people who hire football coaches (not just here but across CFB) don’t have a clue what makes a good coach… so everyone winds up chasing the same dudes pretty much based off PR lol.
Elko wasn’t a name anybody wanted. That was a great hire. Pulling Saban from Sparty was a great hire. Petersen at Washington was a great hire.
Those Urban Meyer / Nick Saban situations where a guy reaches the top somewhere… moves and does it again somewhere else. Doesn’t seem to be very common.

I'm with you. Get a younger, hungry guy who doesn't cost nearly as much...AND is not a dick like LK so obviously is. I'm surprised more Tiger fans don't mention this. They just say, 'I don't care how horrible of a person he is, he'll win!' I personally find it hard to root for a complete a-hole.

I would rather gamble on Baker as head coach with a solid OC than spend the money you have saved on NIL.
Keep Williams D line
Get Orgeron as a DE or LB coach and recruiting
Frank as RB and recruiting
Honey Badger as Safeties assistant w Corey coaching entire secondary
Both need improvement:
Top notch special teams coach
Top notch wr coach

There are no names that are very good. Just not yet branded.

Like others have said
No hire is a guarantee

Maybe have a stream of hungry coaches who have potential and give them 2 years each. Call it the 10 year plan and hope 1 of the 5 is the next Saban.

To be quite honest, I don't really give a crap anymore. Just let me know who it is and I'll pull for him to do good things, hire the coaches he sees fit and recruit the best players. It's too exhausting to be that emotionally invested in who the administration chooses, just let me know when it's done.

That's a great idea. IMO, I think giving these massive, guaranteed contracts works against the universities because often times those coaches lose that competitive drive, and that's understandable, when you know that massive monthly check is going to be deposited into your bank account, win or lose!
