Yea no. Developing men is a bullshite recruiting pitch to get momma on board- his job is to win games. Anyone who’s been around a significant amount of high end high school football players or athletes in general knows that a lot of them are frankly pieces of shite and will continue being pieces of shite for the rest of their lives whether they make millions playing professionally or not.

I, and I’d imagine a lot of other people, are going to get very tired of the talking points very fast if BK doesn’t start bringing in elite talent and making a run at the playoffs every year

So I guess you think Brian Kelly’s job is safe if he has a losing win / loss record, but he has developed the players into A-Class citizens?

Lmao @ Ewwwwwwww

I guess asking someone to be on time, learn a playbook, and not punch anyone is just too much to ask. I’m sorry, I stand corrected.

I didn’t realize it was impossible to be an elite athlete and a decent person.

Except for some misses here or there, Saban has done a pretty good job of recruiting good players and people. It can be done. Nobody is above the team.... ask the Honey Badger.

We can live in an idealistic world where things "should" be, or in the real world where the way things are. Particularly in sports, results are ALL that matter. Losing is the only real mortal sin. Ed Orgeron could be chasing all the tail he wants and have guys fricking off. But if here were 20-4 in 2020-2021 instead of 11-11 he'd still be the HC at LSU. Kirby Smart seems to have a different guy get arrested for reckless driving every other week. Georgia would give him a massive raise tomorrow if he demanded it.

For the entire history of sports poor behavior has been overlooked as long as the production outweighed it. Maybe Harris isn't that good (I'm not on the practice field). But Brian Kelly's job security will be in MUCH greater doubt because of a 7-5 record, in part, because of a terrible secondary, than it would if he wins with a "bad apple".

Perhaps it "shouldn't" be that way. But it is.

I disagree and apparently so does BK. I think there are enough elite athletes that are decent people to not have to “give in” to sub par humans. And maybe if more people thought that way, then shitty people would have to change their behaviors. But instead, people like you are willing to overlook their behavior just bc they can run fast and help your team so you can feel better on Saturday night. Pathetic!

This is an idiotic take, based purely on your personal speculation. Please do everyone here a favor and post less.

He wont play this weekend.

Next decent team we play will start roasting our 2 star defensive backs and he'll go in to stop the bleeding.

Two points:

1. It's not idiotic, but it is pollyannish.

2. The counter takes on here are all based purely on the speculation that Harris is so good he is worth the headache. That's equally pollyannish on their part.

That may not be the burn you think it is. There are lots of hysterical idiots posting on here in the past 5 days. Opinion stats are only valid when the people opining are intelligent.

His job is literally to win games. I don't care if a player steals a crab leg. Just win 15 games.

I think you are a little too idealistic in your view of sports from a fan's perspective. From a fans perspective sports are nothing more than entertainment, and fans are more entertained when their team is winning. Would it be great if every one of the players/coaches were wonderful people? Of course. But losing with "great guys" is not as entertaining as winning with "bad guys". It has ALWAYS been that way.

LSU has a statue of a certain halfback outside of Tiger Stadium. His name is emblazoned on the east side of the stadium, and no player is allowed to wear his #20. He was also a notorious troublemaker off the field during his time at LSU. A guy who was arrested or should have been arrested multiple times but for the fact he lived in a different era where law enforcement often looked the other way because of his local hero status. His conduct was likely far worse than that of Harris...only most didn't hear about it in the 50's because there was not internet, social media, or journalists desperate for clicks searching under every rock for a disparaging story to break. That questionable character carried on into his adult life where he ultimately ended up in prison.

Yet, coaches, fans, administrators ALL looked the other way because he was the best player on one of the best teams, and removing him from the team would have hurt the entertainment value of the product.

Kelly could field a team of some of the greatest scholars and humanitarians the world has ever seen. But if he went 5-7, 6-6, 5-7 with those guys you, and everyone else, would be SCREAMING for a change. Conversely, he could have multiple Harris's, or Billy Cannon's. But if those teams went 10-2, 12-0, 12-0 everyone, including you, would be singing his praises. Why? Because winning football is FAR more entertaining that losing football and, ultimately, people watch football because they want to be entertained. They aren't watching football because they are scouting for the next hire at their business or vetting prospects to date their daughters.

If you can’t follow rules, you don’t play. I don’t care how good you are (he’s not). A coach cannot make exceptions for one player or else he loses the team (see coach Orgeron). Harris has not fulfilled his obligations since he’s been here. He doesn’t know the playbook, he’s late for meetings, he fights with teammates, and is just generally irresponsible. How in any way does this behavior earn you playing time?!! I don’t care how talented you are!

Brian Kelly’s job at LSU is not just to win games, it’s to develop men. People always talk about accountability and the lack thereof in our society but now that it affects our football team, some of you want to just throw it out of the window!! Pathetic!

My God you are one dramatic bitch.
