only way this makes sense is if he is homesick or butting heads with the coaches cuz he was gonna play a ton next year as the 3rd ILB (possibly the second starter next to Perkins).

No, he was in line to probably start or play a lot. You really need at minimum 1 if not 2 ILB’s in the portal unless you are counting on one of the 2 true freshmen to really contribute.
