It was directed to the people here downplaying the affect a prolonged run has on the next season. Some are saying it's only an excuse with minimal effect.

It definitely should not grant an auto berth though.

I said this in 2010 and I’ll say it again. Going all the way through Omaha puts you behind in preparing for the next season, and is such a monumental achievement that it should give you more leeway the next year.

Now, if like this year the champ would otherwise miss the tourney, they should be slotted as the 4-seed in the 1 overall regional.

I’d still give us a better shot at taking down UCLA than whatever directional cow school on which that spot will be wasted.
