so you're saying LSU should replace a team that actually earned their way in? Letme guess, you coach a T ball team.

Don’t understand everyone saying “participation trophy”.

This isn’t an unheard of concept, and it requires reaching the absolute pinnacle of the sport.

Wouldn’t be completely against the runner-up getting in too. We’re talking about bumping no-name schools here.

7 SEC host sites and arguably should have been 8. And lsu didn’t even sniff the tourney. This is terrible and i hate it. LSU should ALWAYS be playing baseball in June

Move on, there are more sports that you can measure your self worth against, I’m sure.

That's not the way it works. Every year is a new year.

I am with you buddy. I still believe in this team and they had so much more still to accomplish if the NCAA didnt take it away from them.

they should be slotted as the 4-seed in the 1 overall regional.

If they did this, it would be a huge disadvantage to get the #1 overall seed

Calendar wise you may get behind. However, you actually get the advantage of prolonged exposure to potential recruits via additional time on t.v.. Lets face it. A drop off usually occurs after a championship. However, the degree and pace of this fall is likely a combination of championship drop off and some other internal issue which the public has no knowledge of.

Why don’t we let every team in?

People bring up State, Ole Miss, and LSU missing the tournament as evidence that winning the CWS is a detriment to the following season. They don’t mention the teams who won it and didn’t fall off the map the next season, or the finalists who played just as long and didn’t tank the next season.

At best it’s anecdotal and at worst it’s a crutch.

Going all the way through Omaha puts you behind in preparing for the next season

Then wouldnt advancing again put you behind again?

And by that logic shouldnt all 8 Omaha teams get an auto bid?

2010 and 2026 have few similarities

Aside from that, your idea is bad

I don’t think there is any doubt that playing later in the season is a disadvantage in the transfer portal era. But not one so big that it would cause a complete next season collapse. Just a small contributor to a failure.
