Article I found from 2016 on Dan Fitzgerald.

Looking at their roster, those percentages look pretty spot on. They have one guy on their team from Zachary who came from LSU-E (River Town- Yes that his name).

Fitzgerald said he would like to be a head coach someday, but presently he is happy to be working with Dallas Baptist head coach Dan Heefner, a friend and mentor who has helped Fitzgerald move up in the ranks.
“Dan has been head coach at Dallas Baptist for 10 years, and he was an assistant for three years before that,” Fitzgerald noted. “I am working with a great head coach, who is very humble and very successful.”
Baseball is the only NCAA Division I sport at Dallas Baptist, and it is also the big sport on campus.
“We’re a small, private Christian school with a top-20 national program in the heart of Dallas,” said Fitzgerald.
Prior to joining the Dallas Baptist coaching staff as the second assistant four years ago, Fitzgerald was the head coach at Des Moines Area Community College in Iowa.
“I knew that if I wanted to be a Division I head coach in the future, I had to leave the junior college ranks and get a job in a DI program,” he said. “There were things I liked about DMACC that made it hard to leave. For one thing, my dad [Pat] was able to drive down from the Twin Cities and see just about every game. I loved being a head coach, but I also love working with a great head coach at Dallas Baptist.”
Fitzgerald is one of those coaches who enjoys recruiting. He sells himself, sells the program and most importantly, sells educational opportunities.
“I will go anywhere to watch a good baseball player,” he said. “Fifty percent of our players come from the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Another 25 percent come from other parts of Texas and the other 25 percent are from different states. We get players from Arkansas, Florida, Illinois and Iowa.
Looking at their roster, those percentages look pretty spot on. They have one guy on their team from Zachary who came from LSU-E (River Town- Yes that his name).

The info I heard about Tulo is right now he is a part time assistant at Texas, but if he is offered a full time assistant gig at LSU I think he's taking it.
Wow this would be incredible on top of the others

JJ and Fitzgerald looks like they are built the same. I’m going to call them “The Short Brothers of LSU Coaching “.

I don’t know much about Fitz other than what I’ve read here, but on paper this seems like a slam dunk hire! I’m pretty excited about the two new assistants!

Coached third base and is shown hitting infield and giving instruction to outfielders. Seems to be a personable guy

We don’t have a paid assistant spot left

Yet, somehow, we managed to have Cain, Smith, and Dunn all paid.
We can have a 3rd assistant and the coach get paid in other means (baseball camps, coaching instructions, etc)

Like that it's another hire of someone with zero ties to Louisiana or the SEC, but that of a qualified coach with the experience to learn how to adapt.

Smith technically was a volunteer assistant. He didn’t have a salary. but you’re correct he was paid with different means in baseball camps etc

And they haven’t coached one inning here yet. But somehow they are better than we had? Time will tell

I know you’re a member of the old guard Nap and I appreciate the info you bring but you don’t have to be so damn bitter my guy. It’s gonna be alright.

Not bitter at all. But just because you have anew staff doesn’t mean they will be better. Pump the brakes and let them prove it on the field over the course of years.

It’s not some stretch to say that Mainieri didn’t have the strongest track record of hiring assistants. Cain wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire
