BK was overpaying to keep guys. All the LSU starters want to be paid the elite rate. LK has a year to year philosophy and especially this year is not paying anyone more than he thinks their worth just to keep them. The agents are telling these guys what they want to hear. Some of these guys will end up with less some will get more.

It seemed like spears struggled in run support. Overall, he is a pretty average safety. He will have to compete for a starting spot if he comes back.

This makes sense to me. I think they adjusted his nil and he is looking for more. He never lived up to the 5 star rating and is stiff and reacts late

I’m not dipshit. I hate that it is no longer about pride in the school for the majority.

Just because a player gets in the portal, doesn't mean theyre leaving. Some guys just want to get their pay day, and I don't blame them

Yeah, a lot of these guys are leveraging for more money. That they intend to enter the portal is more likely to see what they are worth and doesn’t necessarily mean they are all leaving.

Kiffin pretty much stated this during an interview while LSU was playing its bowl game.

Some are being processed, agents of others are trying to squeeze out every penny. Kiffin is evaluating as well

We shall see.

I understand what you’re getting at but let me ask you one question. What happens when a coach (BK for example) signs a bunch of offensive linemen and guarantees to pay them each a million dollars per year for 3 years. Then they end up sucking, BK gets fired, and a new coach comes in and wants to get rid of those players or cut their salary?

That’s a good question. Have a stipulation in the NIL contract indicating that the salary is based on performance. Even add incentives. If a player is just flat out garbage, then they get cut or released. No buy out, no nothing. Give bonuses if they become all SEC/all Americans. Make them at least put forth the effort to earn the money they agreed upon plus any potential bonuses.

This isn't going to stop. They are going to burn it all down if something isn't changed and the NCAA gets control of this. it isn't sustainable. This is just like a big city.....they will destroy any and everything good....for short-term gain.I think this has a lot to do with the softness we are seeing out there from a lot of players. Many are simply not hungry anymore.

I have no problem with these guys getting as much money as they can. Any college football player who doesn't end up being an NFL starter will make more in college than they will in the pro leagues. Many of them will end up with injuries that will always bother them.

Most will all enter the portal to see how much cash they can get, that is college sports today!

It is an awful situation, period!

18 year old kids have more power than 10 year NFL veterans. The whole system is upside down and HAS to be fixed.

This is true but you can’t blame the kids for taking advantage of the situation.
The current situation exists because the NCAA and college presidents failed to act years ago. The writing was on the wall with lawsuits, court decisions and the obvious fact that NCAA rules regarding true NIL were archaic.
Spears, if he is wanted (which he should be), will get a matching offer from LSU.

And ill bet you'll be celebrating the portal class LSU brings in.

I mean...you aren't winning points here...of course we will be happy with the portal class if it is good. Doesn't mean we like NIL at all...it simply means you have to play the ridiculous game. But, you are fooling yourself if you think it isn't taking away from the college game. There has to be some rules so it isn't a free for all every single year....wanna pay them...ok...but they must remain with you for a few years....what they are doing now is a joke.

Don’t hold your breath. One reason the NCAA hasn’t done anything is because every rule they had has been taken to court based on the “it’s not fair” argument. It’s just a matter of time when the “House Settlement” provision for the NIL Clearinghouse is challenged. I’ve heard there are already lawyers writing briefs for a lawsuit.

I love CFB, but there has to be a middle ground for NIL/Rev Share and building depth and year to year continuity.
