Under because of groupthink and media narratives.

Neither.

He's recognized for taking a dump of a program and making it nationally relevant, and exciting, for over a decade. But people also recognize he failed to get the most out of some really, really talented teams.

Overrated by those who think the court should be named after him. Underrated by those who think he sucked as a coach.

People who say overrated will be the young guys who think any crowd around 10,000 is a “packed” PMAC. They have no clue about the consistent crowds of 13,000+ or 60,000 in the superdome.

no, Dale had limitations.

Recruiting was very good.

Motivation was excellent.

X and Os: he was pretty bad.

Id say he has a fair rating as a good coach just couldnt win the big one, a big one, any big game.

Dreadfully overrated, starting with the supertalented 1989-1990 team, which featured Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Chris Jackson, Mo Williamson, Vernell Singleton, Wayne Sims, Geert Hammick and others. Terrific lineup but for whatever reason LSU couldn't make it past the Round of 32. Dale should have been fired at the end of that season, as things only got worse afterwards

I’m young but I’ve been watching old games from those days and and he’s severely underrated as a coach IMO
