if I watched anymore baseball than i do now, it would be considered a problem. Its fun to make comparisons, I think Curiel can be one of the greats by the time he leaves

While it's nice to see, it's also verrrrrry easy to see how many people started following baseball the paul skenes and dylan crews year
The teams we played suck arse
If we do this after the dallas week......then start getting excited
I've been following this program since the 90's, and I do not feel the need to temper my excitement. Because my excitement and expectations were set before the year began, not over who we've beaten so far. And there's a lot you can glean, especially from the pitching staff, even against bad teams. When you see mid to upper 90's fastballs with run and sink, you know that will play in the SEC. When you see that pitch followed by a devastating hammer curve, or tight slider, and that they can throw all of these pitches for strikes, or make you chase it when they want, you know that will play. And when you see how many of our pitchers are able to do these things, there's a lot of reason for excitement.
Someone who's watched baseball for more than a couple of years knows how to look for these things. Of course there are people who are ignorant because they haven't watched long enough to know better, but some of us are excited for reasons other than blowing out bad teams.

Shhhh.. No one cares about actual cold hard facts when discussing how much better someone is!

but there’s no denying this is the most stacked, depth wise this team has been under Coach Jay Johnson.
IDK if this is true. Do we have power?
We play in the sec and there are so many great teams you can look pretty bad from one weekend to the next. A .500 team in the sec can get hot and win it all in the post season. I doubt there are many sec teams trembling at the thought of having to play LSU with teams like A&M, UF, Ark, Vandy, Texas, Tenn, etc I mean really who is going to suck in conference?

Pitching is talented and deep but unproven at the SEC level and grind
I still worry if we will consistently hit enough. There are teams with more capable and proven offenses in this conference
Let’s chill out and just hope this team stays healthy, is able to establish roles, and gels later this spring

It depends on what you value. There are several other teams that had impressive showings against better competition when compared to Purdue Ft Wayne and Southern, but because they didn't win by 10+ you don't think it's as impressive.

It was more about the pitching for me. I also like the aggressiveness on the bases. It's baseball, it's a long season, I liked what I saw because I saw quality depth and a lot of it. What we can realistically derive from week one games isn't really much.

they run ruled (7 innings) William & Mary on Sunday 36-22. They had a 17 run 5th inning.
Was it coach pitch?

You could be right but this has been the start every year unde
This years arms are objectively different. Bats remain to be seen.

I’m very excited, but the only thing we can reasonably take from the series is that pitching didn’t walk many and pounded the zone without seeing any big errors. I also hope this team has the fire to step on teams we should easily beat. I know we are going to lose a few games we shouldn’t, but I’d love to see the team have that edge to them. I think this is a very complete squad with a ton of depth.

Last year we went to Texas and kicked arse and we still sucked come SEC play.
I won't feel confident until we dominate SEC opponents.

This SEC season we do not start out with the top SEC teams like last season.

You are correct. My apologies to all those who were negatively affected by my mistake. If I offended any of the good people of Rhode Island or Delaware, or any alumni of either school that was not my intent and I will endeavor to do better in any future posts.

I mean I'm excited too but the 2023 team may never be matched.
That team will be matched and exceeded several times in the next twenty years.

You could tell the 2019 football team was gonna be different than anything we had ever seen on the first drive against Georgia Southern. Crisp, sharp, fast.
I saw it at the spring game.

This is one of the bummer ones for me because we likely only get him for 2 years instead of 3. Luckily he's starting right away and hopefully making a name for himself in year 1.
Jared Jones also fell into this bucket for me but we luckily got him back for a 3rd year.

depends on how we measure it.
Top end talent I dont know if we’ll have the first and second pick of the MLB draft on the team at the peak of their college careers again.
Floyd set strikeout records in Omaha and was a 1st round pick
Tommy White has the most career home runs since 2000.
absolutely legendary performance in CWS playing just monster teams.
Knocks: weak pitching after F/Sat starters and we didn’t win the SEC (should have had a 3 way tie but we were denied a game)
