He said that championship is the expectation, but it wasn’t a goal they spoke out loud as a team. But the usuals will spin this as O is a loser

really 130 out of 130 teams playing division 1 football arent't going to accomplish goal #1 of beat bama. Nothing says your goals have to be reasonable or logical.

How many coaching searches have you seen where they hold a press conference and say "well we just hired an average coach and plan on hiring bad assistants"

Goal # 1 is to improve your team and get the max potential out of it. ON that account we came close this season. Closer than we have in a long time.

No...my list was correct.
We're in the SECW. First team goal has to be to win your own division. without wining our own division, you can't win the conference...which I'm assuming ought to be goal #2.
Yes...beating BAMA is the only way to accomplish #1 reasonably at this point, but as a mater of policy, winning the SECW ought to be the first step to what we're trying to do here.
Everything outside of that list is looking for a silver lining when the real goals have gone unfulfilled.

No. That's exactly what he said, but it's taken a little out of context. He said they never set that as a team goal because if they get taken out of it during the season then the team may get down on themselves. He then said the goal of the program is always to win the championship. What he said made perfect sense.

You don't pay a football coaching staff collectively $9.9 Million dollars and not expect to compete for National Championships....

Umm... he didnt say that nor did he imply it. He said the "the team wanted to win the national championship this year".
