Would love to know if he set beating Bama as a goal this year. If he did, then winning a national title shouldn't be some unrealistic expectation.

yep, if you beat bama the door for every other goal swings wide open. If you are good enough to beat Bama, then you are good enough to win the NC obviously. Beating Bama is really the taller task, the rest is gravy if you get past that one.

That's why I think a more reasonable goal should be your #1 goal. One that can be achieved with a lot of hard work and a good amount of luck, such as sweep Ole Miss, Auburn, Miss St., Texas AM and Arkansas.

Neither does Nick Saban. Take care of daily tasks and the results take care of themselves. Being process oriented vs goal oriented.

Who just a couple of weeks ago said "you come to LSU to beat Bama?"

and your point being?

don't you think that should be a goal (among many) of every player on LSU's team?

O told the team after beating Louisville in the bowl game after the 2016 season, that the championship was the goal next year. But then again he said a lot of things that have changed since then.

You're either totally delusional or didn't listen carefully at all.

Technically, he did say "we didn't set that (NC) as a goal for this team"

In context, he meant they didn't verbally declare it as a goal but the team still wanted to win the NC.

O's reason - when you make it a point and lose two games, your production can tank afterwards. Makes total sense and this thread is stupid.

say what you want about this team but that is one area I think they have improved a lot on since O took over, is just all the little things. Do all the little things right and the bigger things will happen (if you get the players, still have to get the horses). It is a work in progress.

Not those exact words but he just said he never set a national championship as their goal.

Joe Alleva and O both lied to the entire fan base.

You are so full of shite and you know you are taking his words out of context.

Saban and every other coach says the same thing.

They asked about "some people" saying potentially 10-2 is good, but...

O said that the players expected and wanted to win a national championship. He said the coaches didn't set that as the goal, because if you lose a game then the rest of the season is lost and he didn't want that type of pressure on the players.

Jesus, some you guys are as bad as MSNBC at taking something innocuous and trying to spin it into a hornet's nest.

The conversation i responded to was about lying. People that take a coach at his word care.

He said what he is supposed to say. Of course you say you are going to hire the very best, how stupid would it be to not say that?

Again, you dont say either. Just like with the," we are going to be a playoff team" thing, you dont say either.
Do you here Saban or Belichik declaring they are going to the playoffs or they are going to hire the best coordinators?

You act like i expext him to say the team wont be good or that he wont hire good coordinators when in fact i expect him to say neither.

They were good vs UGA and Ole Miss. Actually, they were fantastic.

sorry but the world doesn't spin according to the Rickdaddy time clock. You're expectations have no effect on coach O's, this staff, or this LSU teams world

“ Who the best coordinators are”

I’m pretty sure a tight ends coach already on our staff who hadn’t been given a contract to be an OC in 20 years wouldn’t have made anyone’s best OC list. And to this point in time, we are seeing why..

Here is the exact quote from the transcript Ree posted in his thread from the press conference.
quote:

This team wanted to win the National Championship. We never talked about it as a team. I know they did. I know their heart was there. Not to say that we can't do it still and I don't know that, but we never set that as a goal as a team. I didn't want to put that on them because if you do that, once you don't have a chance your season goes south.

At no point did i say lsu wonders or listens to me.
I said," o lied about getting the best coordinators".

You said," whats he supposed to say? That he is getting bad coordinators?"

No he is supposed to say neither. Like a good coach.
You dismiss these lies and proclamations by saying," is he supposed to say we suck or that he isnt gonna hire good coordinators?"

I really don't see one damn thing wrong about any of that. And I'm not a Coach O rah rah guy who denounces criticism either. It's common sense.
