He definitely looks confident and more relaxed than any other season.

Playoffs or bust.
NC = redemption of his perception as a HC.

One of the things I think that is overlooked about the team last year is they have leadership on both sides of the ball this year. That was sorely lacking last year. Especially on defense. Now you have Weeks and Perkins that are solid leaders on that defense. And you have Nuss on the offensive side. That goes a long ways when things get tough. Didn't have that last year. They also have experienced depth on the Dline which is huge as well as WR. Add a 5th year QB that may have figured out the running part of his game and I think all around it's a better, deeper team. Oline is going to be better overall. We may not have 2 first rounders yet but from TE to tackle we have talent, experience and depth.

Do you think that Nuss just didn’t risk running the ball last year knowing that we didn’t have a serviceable QB backup ?

Nuss isn't a "runner", nor does he want to be a "runner". Will there be occasions where he'll need to sell out and run to keep a drive alive? Sure. But if the offense has play designs for Nuss to be a running option that is bad coaching by Sloan. Defenses don't care if Nuss runs because they know that isn't a path to victory for LSU.

That's quite an optimistic view for a team that lost 4 three-year starters (all of whom were drafted including the highest OL pick in the draft) and only returns a guy who probably not good enough to play the position this year that he played last year. The OL's struggles in the run game was in large part because of a bad run game approach from the OC. I don't think this year's OL will be bad. But it's hard to see them being better overall.

I think even with a lesser OL (compared to last year) LSU still has talent at all spots. The big question for me is at safety. That was the single worst position group for the last 2 years. Far too many times they turned what should have been moderate gains into huge gains. If the new additions there are even just "solid" that will be a HUGE upgrade.

Took longer than I would have thought, but you see long time coaches not addressing the portal like they should have or needed to in the early days. You simply cant build a team like Kelly was trying to for two years, it doesnt work. No one sticks around to develop. And he is correct, bringing in upperclassmen that will need to lead your team is a huge risk, you just dont know what you are bringing into the locker room.

The spirit of our guys, the talent they have, the production returning....if we can get above average OL play and rush it a bit, I think we have a chance to make a deep playoff run.

This was the main problem. It seemed Nuss was coached not to run, yet the dumbass OC continued to call plays where a QB run was essential from time to time. I thought Nuss was chicken at first to run, but it was clear that he was told not to risk it.

If that was the case, then it shows the incompetency of the offensive staff.

Sounds like the culture and coaching thought process has changed. Post 2019, O definitely stated many times that “if you wanted to play in the NFL, come to LSU “ The branding became NFLSU or something similar. We got away from a team oriented goal concept. Sounds like we are back on the rails again. Appears that way too when you watch the summer videos. Lots of mutual support and motivation amongst team members with strong leaders.

If he wins big this year he will be one of the 2-3 SECN darlings. Saban is gone and Kirby is still there but BK and Sark are poised to get that seniority respect from our conf media which will help his national coverage as well.

That was not an interview, that was a conversation among friendlies...

BK talked a lot of culture and process stuff but the big difference in him is he adapted this year to NIL. Last yr he was not willing to pay NIL to star players and others did. We got the leftovers. This year he went hard into the portal early and beat a lot of our competitors out for talent. I just think is is good that he realized his build from within and plug holes with portal players was falling behind and he did something about it even to the point of putting a mil of his own money up... so anyone here that doesnt think he is here for a Natty put your mil up and see how invested you get.
