Chase Shores, RHP, Legacy HS (Mansfield, Tx.)
Shores is a 6-8, 250-pound right-hander committed to LSU who looks like he’s going to be a workhorse starter, although he doesn’t have the pure power we’ve come to expect from giant high school pitchers from Texas. Shores is mostly 90-94 and can flash you an above-average curveball and changeup, but nothing is that consistent yet, while he’s changed some aspects of his delivery since last summer. Twenty or 30 years ago, he probably would have been a top-two rounds pick, but without a huge fastball or better present control, he is more likely to end up in Baton Rouge.
Just looked at one of his draft write ups, looks like something a good pitching coach can develop, but doesn’t scream like a sure weekend starter from the start…

Wow, 6'-8" and likely still growing.

There’s a video of him hitting 95 and above several times during an inning.

Wes Johnson will have him hitting 100. I know he’s listed at 250lbs but he carries that so well, there is still plenty room to get stronger.

Sounds like Ty Floyd. Hopefully our coaches can develop those offspeed.

So did he end up being picked to low? Or once the 3rd round ended he pulled his name out?????
Posted on 7/18/22 at 3:14 pm to Penrod
If Floyd comes back he will be a top 2 round pick next year.

With the extension he gates towards the plate with that 6'8 frame, 95 probably feels closer to 98
