Lsu shouldn't have to fight for pitchers

If Floyd comes back he will be a top 2 round pick next year.

I think that’s likely, too. His offspeed was starting to hint at coming around.

This is the kind of kid we need? But how did we get him out of Midland?

Shores is a 6-8, 250-pound right-hander committed to LSU who looks like he’s going to be a workhorse starter, although he doesn’t have the pure power we’ve come to expect from giant high school pitchers from Texas. Shores is mostly 90-94 and can flash you an above-average curveball and changeup

Just comparing on height but Wes Johnson took a 6-9 Bailey Ober and improved his velocity and helped him develop a nice slider.

quote:

Upon reaching the majors in May 2021, his fastball averaged 92.3 mph, a big uptick in velocity. The raw velocity he showed in the big leagues was a significant improvement over what he was showing in the minors, but 92 mph isn’t exactly head-turning. Fortunately, his gigantic 6-foot-9 frame allows him to impart a ton of additional effective velocity on his pitches. Just six other pitchers had a higher release extension than Ober’s 7.3 inches

FIFY. Every professional scout I’ve met is a total dumbass and their write ups are the same 4 generic phrases regurgitated over and over. I’m assuming most do it for free because it’s like they’re not even watching these guys play, it’s ridiculous.

I have no clue how someone can even come close to saying that a guy who throws 97 at 6’8” “lacks power”, even if he’s only touched 97 once in his life. Just a complete clown statement

He’s from N. Texas. Mansfield Legacy, not Midland Lee.

Hope he’s a bigger version of Anthony Renaudo.

I’ve seen him throw in vids. He’s different than Renaudo. AR was much more over the top than Chase.

Chase has a 3/4 arm slot and gets a good bit of arm side run in the fastball. He’ll sit in the low to mid 90s as of now. I imagine he’ll continue to mature physically and sit mid-high 90s by the time he leaves.

He needs to develop better command of secondary stuff though. The raw stuff is definitely there though.

Here is a good bud from a showcase: YouTube He comes out amped and hits 97 but about half way through he settles in at low to mid 90s.

He’s from Midland. Lee HS changed its name to Legacy.

Good for Chase---I was hoping he would not wind up signing with a professional baseball team.

I live in a city close to Midland and he's received some very good press coverage. He is definitely a star already, with lots of potential to improve. Chase was also one of Legacy High's best hitters.

By the way, his high school used to be Lee High School. It is the alma mater of former Tiger quarterbacks, Pat and Paul Lyons, for those who recall the 1970's.
